1964 Corvette
Back
The styling was cleaned up a bit for 1964.  The main change was the rear window, with its distinctive divider of '63 was replaced by a solid piece of glass.  The official reason was to increse visibility, but in truth, it didn't help mush.  You couldn't see out of the cars too well anyway.  However, the removing of the split did serve one purpose; it made the '63 Vette easily identifiable from the rest.  Insted of having to take a closer look at the styleing or something, the '63s can be identified by a glance. The fake hood vents were also eliminated.  The had actually been eleminated from the Corvette design in mid-63, I belive. They stopped making it with the fake vents somewhere in the 500-ish mark, give or take a few hundred.  According to most of the info I have read, the only engine options that were availble were variations on the 327.  However, this was also said to be true for the '63, and I have seen a '63 with a 427 F/I, so I'm not to sure about that (refer to the '63 page for my ranting and raving about this car).  I'm going to clear this up soon.
Anyway, 7 colors were available for the exterior finish: Black, white, tan, Daytona Blue, silver blue, silver, and red.  The interior you could get in a gigantic variaty of combos, but a lot of people went with the all-white or all-black inside.  11.9% were sold with automatics, 3.2% sold with 3 speeds and 85.7% were sold with 4 speeds. An L84 (which I think was the most powerful 327, but might have been a 427) equipped '64 would go from 0-100 in 14.7 seconds.
This is all the solid info I have been able to find so far, hope to get more soon.  If you could help me out, drop me an e-mail, you'll find my adress on the home page.
