GREAT DANE
RESCUE
Illinois And Indiana
Dogs available as of
03/02/04
After some major soul searching, we have decided it is time to close our
rescue doors. We will always be available to our past adopters and will
always take back in any of the Danes we have adopted out. It is time now
for us to concentrate on our own dogs, many whom are getting up there in
years, and take care of ourselves first. We would like to thank everyone
we have met on our journey here, and will always hold rescue close to our
hearts.
These dogs are still left up for adoption.

Timber
Timber is a 2 year
old Great Dane/Shepherd mix. This boy was found as a stray in Ohio
with what is thought to be his sister. Timber must have had a hard
life-this baby is so terribly scared of men. He is convinced he will
be hit or beaten by men and will hide from them-However, he totally
adores woman. Timber is looking for a home that has time and patience
to help him realize that not all men are bad. He has made great
strides so far in rescue and has begun to take treats from his foster
dad, but relies on his foster mama (Me) When Timber is home with me
alone, he is like any other dog. Happy and silly-thrilled to see me
and always by my side or snoozing under my desk. He is as gentle as
can be and does not have a mean bone in his body. He is perfectly
housebroken and crate trained, very calm and well behaved indoors,
rarely barks and is fine with cats and other dogs-really wanting to
play with them Im not sure how Timber would be with kids, so we would
recommend an adult home for him. I know he seems like he comes with a
lot of baggage-and yes he does have some issues, but in the right
home, Timber would make the most excellent dog. He weighs in at 117
pounds and is still underweight a bit. He is heartworm negative,
neutered, current on all vaccines and microchipped UPDATE: As of
December, Timber has come to trust his foster Daddy and even comes to
him for petting. Timber had his first outing at Petsmart, and although
reserved, he did quite well taking treats from strange men, and having
his picture taken with Santa. This boy is improving everyday and has
also learned that snuggling in bed on a dreary Sunday is the most
wonderful thing to do! UPDATE: As of the New Year-Timber now loves his
foster Daddy -even hugging and playing tag with him. So you see with
time and love, Timber will make the most wonderful companion |
