He held her hand as she slipped away

He watched his life die

His life for Fifty years

Slowly disappearing

Gone into Nothing

Nothing except lost love

A void that engulfed his soul

Thinking he should weep

He leaned his head down to cry

But no tears appeared in his eyes

No emotion left for tears

He had cried all he could

And she continued to die

"I am not as naive"

The old man thought aloud

"As all those young lovers

Who say. . .

I would give my life for yours

For I know with out the other

There is no life to be lived

Every breath taken

Useless

Dead"

He sighed deeply

Squeezed her hand

No response

He wept one final tear

As she drew her terminal breath

Then as quickly as it began

As quickly as he had fallen

She was gone

Now lost

His pathway never again to be uncovered

His breaths never truly satisfying

But he knew

The life he lived

Couldn’t have possibly been better

For she was in it

And it was complete
