History of the JohnBaluga ScreenName

Super-Hip Cousin Mike and I were conversing on the afternoon of July 17th. We were discussing strategies and plans for taking over the world. We ended that portion of the conversation and SHCM asked how I got my ScreenName. Here's the transcription:

davewhale : hey one more question
davewhale : where did "john baluga" come from
JohnBaluga : it's sort of a rip off of your name
JohnBaluga : way back when i was trying to think of an AIM screen name
JohnBaluga : i thought stevewhale.... john... baluga?
davewhale : haha i was thinking about it one day and thought it was sort of similar. that's awesome.
davewhale : did i ever tell you where i came up with "stevewhale", "davewhale"?
JohnBaluga : nope
JohnBaluga : where?
davewhale : well i might as well tell you since both our names have foundations in the same joke.
JohnBaluga : hehehe
davewhale : back in high school, me and my friend were wasting time in physics class making up useless jokes. we were talking about how exotic all of the animals names at Sea World were -- Shamu, Namu, others i can't even remember anymore. we thought it was be so hilarious if the announcer introduced a new member of the sea world family to all the excited kids and adults at one of the shows......something like...."AND NOW, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, DAVE THE WHALE!"
davewhale : and the confused look on their faces when they heard such a mediocre name for such an exciting creature.
JohnBaluga : lol
JohnBaluga : hahaha
davewhale : or "STEVE THE WHALE!" or "ALAN THE DOLPHIN"
davewhale : !!
JohnBaluga : boredem at its best!
davewhale : we must have laughed our asses off for like 15 minutes at that one.
JohnBaluga : lol
JohnBaluga : that's good stuff
davewhale : so it was a running inside joke with my friend mark, and that's why i picked it as my screen name, cause it made me laugh.
davewhale : plus i knew no one else would have used "davewhale" yet
JohnBaluga : that's very good to know... a lot of people ask me where i get my SN from so now i have more of a story to tell
davewhale : so anyway, it's nice to see the tradition carried on in JohnBaluga. welcome to the family.
