What Kind of Person is Greg?

The following will attempt to describe my personality.

In Spring of 2005, I was required to take the Myers Briggs test. I found out that I am a

ENTP
Extrovert - Intuition - Thinking - Perception

my polar opposite is

Introvert - Senses - Feeling - Judging

taken from my webpage/journal/blog/doodad on 04/10/2005 and amended on 10/01/2005

I recently took an Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test. The results were amazingly accurate. Insane! I am an ENTP. I know you're asking "What the blood is an ENTP!?!?!?!" (unless you're a business or psychology nerd.)

Well, E stands for extrovert. I guess I would say I'm somewhat of an extrovert. I'm typically quiet around new people (unless there are some inhibitors in me.) It takes a fair amount of time before I actually open up and live up to the gregariousness in my name. The alternative to extravert in the MBTI is intravert which I am sometimes. However, I'm typically an extrovert.

N stands for intuition. This means I pay attention to the patterns in information I get. People who are N's are concerned with the big picture, the future, as opposed to the alternative. The S's are concerned with the present. I think i'm a futuristic kind of guy (mentally.) I like to think that I'm planning ahead for my future. One example of this is me going to school. Most people stop at high school. I continue on and will continue continuing on continued continuum. Grad school? Doctorate school? me thinks!!!

T stands for Thinking. I'm a thinker and definitely not a feeler, the alternative. This is as much a good thing as it is a bad thing. When we analyzed our results in class it was interesting to see that all the guys were on one side and all the girls were on the other. I definitely put more weight on objective principles and facts than personal concerns. You have to if you're going to be in business. It allows you to think logically through the situation. By removing your feelings you end up acting like an outside mediator and can usually judge things better. However, I found that Thinkers don't do so hot in relationships! HA! The misses can attest to that.

Lastly, I am a P and very proud of it yet sometimes it gets me in more trouble! One of the characteristics of a P is that they like to stay open and respond to whatever happens. Whereas the J's tend to want to make decisions as soon as possible to avoid having to deal with the situation in the future. Another characteristic of a P is that we like to work in burst of energy. This definitely is me. No if, ands or buts about it. I am often found to be the initiator of things as opposed to the concludor(concluder? did i just make that word up?)

If you happen to take your MBTI test and it happens that you're just like me... I'm sorry. It's a tough world.. Ha! But we're tough people... The secret to my/your/our success is

Prioritize, focus, and follow through - especially with commitments made to others!

So there's a little insight on how I work. Most of the literature describing ENTPs is dead-on in relation to me. So if you want to know exactly what my personality is like read about ENTPs. It just so happened that my MBTI results matched those of my professor, Doc Gray. By the way... she's the best prof on the planet.
