1) Star Wars

The movie series that changed my life…I had every action figure every cheesy game, every Burger King collectable glass…I have seen these movies easily hundreds of times…and Empire Strikes Back is in my opinion the greatest sequel of all time…where as Episodes I and II have been disappointing for some, they still get it done for me…I am drooling in anticipation of the final Chapter next May…

2) The Lord of the Rings

A very, very, very close second…almost like 1a. if you will…I never thought this movie trilogy could come close to my love of Star Wars…but it has and I believe the only reason it is not its equal is my history with the Force…I can’t get enough of Frodo, Sam and the boys…I wish the extended editions ran 10 hours each.

3) The Godfather

The Ultimate Guy Movies…heck, the first two are about as close to perfect as you can get…the journey of the Corleone family, first headed by Don Vito (Marlon Brando) followed by Michael (Al Pacino)…if your about to start a Mafia movie collection or film festival…this is were you start…even though Part 3 gets a deserved bad rap, this series is planted at no. 3 on the list.

4) Indiana Jones

The be all and end all of Action/Adventure films…the classic Saturday afternoon serial following the adventures of Dr. Henry Jones…written by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg, these are classic, fun adventure flicks that belong in any collection…Raiders is one of my favorite all time movies…and Crusade is terrific with Sean Connery starring as father Jones.

5) Back to the Future
I fell in love with these movies way back in 6th grade…I think I also got one of my nicknames from this film too (Biff…don’t ask)…but a great story that takes us both forward and backward through time as we follow Marty McFly and Doc Brown try to stop Biff and set the time space continuum straight.
6) The Terminator

The movie that cemented Arnold as a superstar…funny part is, he had like maybe 20 lines in the whole movie…but a sci-fi classic that spawned too very respectable sequels….and some hilarious one-liners…”I’ll be back”…I remember watching the original Terminator when I was very little…it was the first time I saw nudity in a movie when Sarah and Reese get it on…but Arnold as the terminator made the movie…he was unstoppable…and the action and special effects are woven around a smart and compelling story.

7) Rocky

Everyone loves Rocky…everyone…the story of a true underdog…a no one that defies all odds to win the heavyweight boxing championship of the world…come on…Eye of the Tiger…YO ADRIAN!...Paulie…Mick…Rocky won the Oscar in 76 and brought us three great sequels (I like to pretend Rocky 5 didn’t happen)…I love the part in II when Adrian wakes up from the comma and he starts to train…Clubber (Mr. T) in part III…and who could forget Drago in IV…”I must break you…” …classic.

8) The Matrix

The first one is a classic and re-established the bar in terms of story telling with special effects…still one of my favorite movies of all time…a movie I didn’t give a chance at first because of my hatred of Keanu Reeves…but I love it…and the two sequels Reloaded and Revolutions got the worst rap that was undeserved…they told the story and told it well…this is and will always be one of my favorite film series.

9) James Bond

A fantastic film series that spans 20 movies…it all started with Sean Connery back in 1962 with Dr. NO…and Connery’s work as 007 is still my favorite…Goldfinger and Thunderball are my favorites…In addition to Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and the most current bond Pierce Brosnan…some of the recent installments have been kind of week, but Goldfinger and the last Bond film Die Another Day were solid entries…what I love about the series is that it follows a formula each time out…it never strays and never wavers…and it delivers…I am a lifelong Bond fan.

10) Alien

Ok…flat out…the first Alien movie scared the shit out of me…still in my opinion one of the scariest movies ever made….takes place in the deep depths of space where a mining crew picks up some not so nice creatures…Sigourney Weaver’s most well known role as Ripley…Aliens was a very strong second installment as Ripley returns as the only survivor of the first film to battle the baddies again…where the first was directed by Ridley Scott, the second was helmed by James Cameron…Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection were not nearly as good in quality, but still very respectable Sci-Fi films.

Die Hard, Jurassic Park, Austin Powers, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Kevin Smith’s New Jersey Trilogy (Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy), The Man with No Name Trilogy (A Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly)
