Hello everyone,

 
I was told to write a few GRE preparation tips by juniors. So here it is.
 
My credentials: BE MECH (2001) GRE Q800 A780 V 610 TOEFL 280/300
MS MECH at TAMU for Fall 2001. So I am busy with that too. Please post only ur genuine doubts on the message boards at http://spree.to/gre Its got some great tips and articles, too. Its a site I put up myself. So would appreciate it if u could write in a word or two in the guestbook. Go to www.gresolutions.com too.
 
TARGET:
3 months before Start (eg date in October, start in July)
do a read of Barons.
Read up Norman Lewis
Start doing research on universities. Mail them pre-applications in July first week (more on this later)
Start 1 word list a day. Should take u 50 days for completion. Do the A, I, T, P and other imp ones again and again
 
2 months (August)
Start solving full 3 hour tests from Big Book. Target to solve at lest 27 :-) there only so many ie. do all the tests
Appraise urself by putting all ur score in the cronogical order. Pay importance to time factor. See the improvements
Finish Quant completely! Wordlists at least once.
 
1 month ( September)
Time for full fledged CBTs . See how many CBTs u have and grade them Do the easy ones like arco before and then Kaplan.
Anal should be well now. Quant 8000 scores should be common. Verbal may vary from 550 - 7000. If u r higher ythan this, give ur test asaplest u should loose that touch .... DONT GET COMPLACENT....
 
2 weeks
Stop going to college/ work. Do POWERPREP at least 3 times each. this is the most important stage. The score on PowerPrep will in all probabilites be ur final score. The look/feel is exactly the same.

Wordlists:
Do Norman Lewis first!!!
Barrons
Arco Wordlist
Wordlist Software: Power Vocabulary (Gayathri Impex)
There are many more, I'll send them soon.
The Verbal technique should be to do as many wordlists a s possible. Make it interesting and domt cram Barrons. I have made my own wordlist. Will mail it to u guys in august, till then do Barons.
