I don’t know if this book ever came out in Second Edition format. I’ve got it in 1st Edition, and I find the book very useful. I know, you’re thinking “I won’t use the Death Star in my game.” but that’s not what I use the book for. Of course the bulk of the book is taken up with the information regarding the Death Star, but there is also a section in this book that details some of the lesser known characters. There are stats for, of course, Grand Moff Tarkin, as well as a lot of the “little people” that ran the Death Star. Our old favorites of Admiral Motti and General Tagge are in here, and some people you’ve probably never heard of.
Additionally, there are stats for a wide variety of NPCs that you can use in just about any game. Imperial officers (Colonel, Major, Captain, etc), crewmembers, stormtroopers, army troops (officers and enlisted), detention guards, the infamous Death Star Troopers, and GOBS more!! There are also stats in there for a few vehicles, but most of these are handled in other books.
As a whole, I like this book, and find myself using it often, simply to get the stats for all of those NPCs. It’s helpful, even if you don’t use the Death Star stats.
