Imperial Double Cross

This book is an oddity, though it is quite interesting. Have you ever wanted to play a game of Star Wars, but not had anyone around to play with? Well this book helps fill the urge!

Granted this isn't quite the same as good face-to-face playing, but this will give you a quick fix. This book, consisting of a solo adventure, is basically a "choose your own adventure" type of book. A character is given at the beginning for you to play, and the adventure moves along with the character getting into all kinds of problems. You actually use the mechanics of the game in this adventure, so it isn't just all reading. There is dice rolling involved too. Granted, the choices are limited, as it has to be encompassed in a book, but the adventure is still pretty good.

As a whole, I was suprised with how far-reaching the adventure was. A lot of ground is covered in the story, and it's actually pretty fun to play when you're bored and want to play Star Wars.

One things that having this book has done is put the idea of making an adventure of my own. I can tell, however, from this book ,that doing so is a good chunk of work. If you are at all interested in doing something like this, I'd recommend picking up this book. If you've played the solo adventure in the back of the Tales of the Jedi sourcebook, or in one or two of the Adventure Journals, this one is better. Overall, a fun book to have, though the replay value is limited to only a couple of games.

My rating:

Three Yodas!
