This is a book that I had the patience to wait for. It’s actually a compilation of three books that were made before it: Heir to the Empire Sourcebook, Dark Force Rising Sourcebook, and The Last Command Sourcebook.
Overall, I like the book, as it offers a great amount of information regarding the trilogy of books put out by Timothy Zahn. There are stats for aliens, new troops, some new ships, and a smattering of Force powers. The book has stats for the main characters in the book, including Talon Karrde, Thrawn, Mara Jade, and (of course) the main characters.
This book also has the neat aspect of possessing stats for Imperial space stations. For those always wanting this information, this book is helpful in that regards. There are a couple of new fighters in here, as well as some new land vehicles, but not really much in the way of equipment. In fact, in that department, it offers more stats on droids than actual useful equipment. The bad aspect of this is that the droids that ARE listed, don’t have pictures for them….something that seems to happen in a lot of these books.
If you don’t want to run a campaign in this era, and don’t want to have the stats for a dozen or so new ships and fighters, don’t get this book. There isn’t a whole lot of enormously helpful stuff in here, but it is a nice book if you like the trilogy. If you want a couple of specific stats, try to pick up the individual books, rather than the compilation, as it’ll be easier on your pocketbook.
