The Rumor Mill


The following describes possible rumors that the group may overhear from civilians in the main town and also in the surrounding villages.

RUMORS

  1. The Russians are winning the war. The Americans are running with their tails between their legs.
  2. The Soviets are using Petrol!
  3. If a person tells the Soviets about the whereabouts of any Americans, they get 10 liters of GAS!
  4. The Russians around here are all scared. They are third line soldiers that do nothing but beat innocent civilians and rape women.
  5. The are ghosts in the forest near the village of Vharga.
  6. Someone has been blasting in the old mine near Vharga.
  7. General Stehnkov isn't really in charge. "Fixit" is!
  8. Marauders are ravaging the area to the East. Word has it that the Soviets are working with them.
  9. There's a band of cutthroat pirates on the island of Sarsell. They capture people to work as slaves.
  10. The reason there's power around here now is because the Russians have worked hard at getting the old nuclear power plant operational. At least THEY are interested in things other than war!
  11. Some people around Vharga have been getting sick and dying for no reason. It's like Death has come to the area and is reaping his harvest.
  12. Some pirates from further East are coming this way. There's sure to be a fight between them and the pirates we have here.
  13. Someone from a nearby village saw some Russian convoys moving through some months back. There was a lot of equipment covered up under tarps.
  14. The Americans are planning on attacking within the week.
  15. It going to be a cold winter this year.
  16. Gersmakia is the staging area for the entire Russian army
  17. I heard there's some Soviets holed up in the old castle.
  18. General Stehnkov is the Grim Reaper! He brings death to all! We are all dead!
  19. At night, you can hear the moaning from all the dead, echoing from the forest.
  20. I used to be a soldier back during the second World War. These kiddie soldiers are nothing compared to the Nazis. They think they know what hardship is? They know nothing!
