The village of Jkorkz is on the coast, and is roughly 6 1/2 kilometers West by Southwest of the town of Tolkmicko. This small village, populated only by about 74 individuals, is situated looking out at the lighthouse. There are docks for the fishing boats that used to belong to the fishermen in town, but there are no longer any boats.
The people in this town are terrified of the pirates at the lighthouse, and tend to do whatever the pirates ask of them. Not even the fishermen (about 6 of them) stand up to the pirates. The village initially had about 120 people, but the pirates raped and killed quite a few of the women, and made an example of some of the men. Since then, people have been leaving the village, hoping to find peace somewhere else.
If the PCs find this village, which they should if they find out about the lighthouse, since this village is the easiest way to get to the lighthouse, they will find the people scared and unwilling to assist them. If the PCs make their presence known too much, the pirates will go to the village and "ask" the villagers if they know anything. If the PCs do happen to tell the villagers anything, those villagers will tell everything they know to the pirates. If the pirates don't ask, the villagers won't tell, however.
The mining town of Vharga is situated about 2 kilometers to the West of the town of Gersmakia. It is a quaint little town, almost untouched by marauders. In fact, except for some Soviet forces that moved through the area about a year ago, there have been no military forces in the immediate area.
Life progressed fairly regularly at Vharga, with the townspeople having to start farming for themselves since the food shipments stopped. No one died, except those that decided to travel out of Vharga to see what was happening. The people began to get the idea that the world had broken down around them. They were content, however, to stay in their town and let things go by. Unfortunately for them, Stehnkov decided that the castle, about 1/2 a kilometer away, will be the perfect staging site for his operation. Recently, the townspeople have noticed a couple more Soviet troops in the woods around the old mine. The soldiers have a tendency to shoot people on sight, so the townspeople keep to their town, and the Soviets keep to the woods. Everyone is happy.
The population of Vharga is only about 60 people, most of whom are miners and their families. If the PCs can somehow convince the townspeople to help them, which would take some doing, they would have the expertise of the miners with them. As a whole, however, the townspeople are non-confrontational. They don't want to attract attention to their little town, and have found that if they don't, then things don't bother them. It has worked for them so far.
The town of Vharga has only one true road leading out of it, and that leads to the town of Elblag. Otherwise, there are only a couple of dirt roads leading out of the town, one that links up with the road that leads to the castle, and one that leads to the mining camp and mine entrance. The road that leads to the castle is in very poor condition, and if you didn't know that there was a road there, you wouldn't see it. The one leading to the mine is in much better condition, but the people tend to stay away from it, as there have been some strange happenings up that road.
