Abrasive applications usually requires standard sizes and can be divided in three main categories:

- grinding wheels and other bonded abrasive shapes, for finishing metals, plastics and ceramic;
- coated abrasives, on paper, cloth or plastic film, used for machining and polishing construction materials;
- abrasive grits/powders for wiresawing and polishing of granites, marbles and other materials.
