The Lowdown
A group of elite commandos head deep into the jungle on a rescue mission but soon discover a killer alien is on their trial. See, the "Predator" likes to hunt for sport. He's come to earth to collect some trophies and Arnie is at the top of his list.

My Take

"Predator", atleast in my opinion, is the ultimate alien offering PERIOD! I loved "Alien", I loved "Aliens", and several more alien-type flicks out there, but for my money, there ain't no better alien movie around. I've loved this flick since I was an 11-year-old kid, yeah, it scared the absolute crap outta me back then but I still loved it. It's one of those films that just stuck in my head (we've all got those special movies) for many, many years. I can nearly quote this film verbatim. Sad isn't it?

What makes "Predator" such a butt-kicking offering? For me it's the actual Predator (what an awesome creature, props to Stan Winston for the greatest alien creation in cinematic history) but there's several other aspects that make this film the classic that it's become. Arnold being one of those cool aspects, another being the likeable cast of characters that we meet in the film. I found something to like about this entire unit which upped the stakes throughout the film. I rooted for these guys and when someone "bit it", it had an impact. These ain't just cardboard characters, these are well-developed (for the most part), likeable guys that grew on me. "Predator" is also "balls-out" action that hits hard and rocks from beginning till end. This is a "man's movie". Lots of guns, explosions and shoot 'em up scenes that never let up.

Considering the film is nothing new in terms of its story, "Predator" manages to have a few creavtive touches that help in making this an even better ride. I love the overall look of the Predator for one, his weapons for another, and the idea that this guy just comes to earth to hunt for sport is very cool and I bought everything about it. The final showdown between Dutch and the big, bad Predator is one the cooler finales you'll ever see and even though I found a few things I didn't like about the end (the laughing was corny), it's still good times.

"Predator" always has, and will always be one of my five favorite films of all-time. Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of my favorite actors (if not my favorite) ever and as much as I love some of his others movies ("The Terminator", "The Running Man", and "Conan" to name a few) this one is by far my favorite. "Predator" has become a classic over the years and still holds its own today. This is one film that has everything us guys love about movies. If anything can be negatively said about "Predator", I wish more of the kills would have been shown on-screen instead of implied. That's my only complaint, now get out! "Predator" gets a perfect rating, I'd have to shoot myself in the face if I gave it anything less.
