Our monthly contests are open for submissions.

We accept any original stories in the Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Thriller, Suspense and Mystery fields. The stories must contain original characters by the authors. We will not accept any fan fiction, or stories that contain proprietary or copyrighted characters.

Also no erotica, excessive gore or violence (true some will be acceptable as in horror and mysteries there does tend to be a bit). For a good guideline think of the movies of the 30's, 40's 50's and early 60's. Keep it to a nice PG level.

Entry Fee: $10 (payable in US Fundsthrough PayPal only)

First Prize: $30 (Awarded in US Funds through Paypal only. Yes I know Paypal takes a small fee from transferred money, but we will compensate for that when sending out the award.).

Second and third prizes will be handled out by discretion of the judges.

Length should be between 2000 and 6000 words. (Your contact information and your title are not included in the word count.)

Entries must be original and unpublished. Send only your best. Once submissions arrive, no revisions will be accepted. No refunds will be offered.

Open to writers worldwide age 18 and up.

Winner will be notified via email by March 31, 2009. The winning story will be published in The folowing issue of "Gudbudie's Mystery and Sci-Fi Journal". All results are final.

ALL contest entries must be submitted electronically. You may paste your text within the body of an email or send it as an attachment in a .txt, .rtf or a MS Word .doc. We do not accept any other formats.

AT the top of your submission, please provide:
your name
your email address
word count

CAPITALIZE title. All submissions must have a title.

FONT should be black 12-pt. Arial, Courier or Times Roman, double-spaced. Separate Chapters or scenes with centered pound signs: ###### (shift-3).

Please place "The End" at the end of your story so we know that we received the whole text.

Subject of email should read: Gudbudie's Mystery and SciFi Contest Contest

If you don't see a confirmation within 2 business days, we have not received your submission. Please do not use a spam-blocking address that requires us to register.

RIGHTS

Winner grants Gudbudie's Mystery and SciFi Journal Publishing Rights. Simply put, this means you allow us to publish your story in our magazine. All other rights remain with the author. When teh next issue is published, the story will move to the archives and remain there until you ask us to remove it. You, the winning author, retain all other rights to your work.

These Rights apply to the winning entry only, all other entrants retain ALL rights to their work.
