History
The vehicle was unveiled in September 1994 becoming available in 1995, know as the P38A Pegasus, it had a bigger body than its predecessor but appeared to be smaller because of the more rounded shape.
The body styling cues came from the original Range Rover including its castellated bonnet and the black "C" pillars.
The spare wheel was placed under the load space and the fuel tank moved forward of the rear axle.
The Aluminium body panels and engine were carried forward from the original although the engine was re-worked.
The chassis became stiffer, redesigned to be more crash-worthy and stronger differentials were used.
Vehicle height can be raised and lowered over a 5-inch plus range.
In the lowest 'access mode' setting, the suspension is grounded almost to the bump stops.
Many of the innovations from the classic model have now become standard features.
Theses include ABS, Electric Traction Control (ETC) and Electric Air Suspension (EAS) which
automatically lowers at high speed and has a high profile position that gives extra ground clearance.
4 wheel drive has also been carried forward into this model.
The automatic gearbox has "H" gate.
The
Range Rover III went into production in 2001.
