A Journey of Self

"Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." ~ Leo Tolstoy (1828 - 1910)

"If you hate a person, you hate something in him that is part of yourself. What isn't part of ourselves doesn't disturb us." ~ Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962)

"You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can't possibly live long enough to make them all yourself." ~ Sam Levenson (1911 - 1980)

The journey of self never officially begins ... well, at least not if you're starting after birth. That's not even taking reincarnation or other beliefs into account! In the womb, you begin to discover everything! You might start to suck your thumb, what your tummy feels like when you burp, if you're more comfortable in one position or another, and the list goes on.

Think of everything a baby accomplishes their first year of life! At no time in the rest of your life will you ever do as much as you do that first year. Your discovery of self is off to a wonderful start, but it is a journey that will never end. We are forever changing, so new discoveries are always to be made. And without the journey, what would be left?
