Start of School
Who can tell me that you do not(i mean REALLY) dread school when you're young?
Frankly speaking, I really dreaded the day my quality childhood days(I mean you can survive everyday by just eating, crying, playing and sleeping) ended....
Being woken up early in the morning to have breakfast, wearing the stupid school uniform to kindergarden, getting scolded by teachers for wrong answers and poor qualtiy of work(I'm a very slow learner) and that's not the end. When I got home everyday after school my mom will force me to take a nap even though I'm not tired. Then when I woke up I have to rush my homework....
See my point? Do you think there's much time left for "quality childhood" after such daily routine?
Anyway, I have only been to kindergarden for just a year. When I was 6, my parents had arranged for me to study in pre-primary course in Boon Keng Primary. It's something like kindergarden except you get to play more =)
Everyday around 1230hr my dad would drive my elder sister(primary 1)and me to Boon Keng in his blue pickup.
Then when everyone's in the classroom at one the National Anthem and Pledge taking will start.
A short study session will commence and end around 2pm followed by games(there are 4 sections for you to choose).
1. Jia1Jia1Jiou3(Chinese for "kitchen games")
2. Block games: You stack out whatever you like with your imagination using wooden blocks.
Sorry but I really forgot what the other 2 sections are.
At 3pm we'll have canteen break and every weekday there will be something different.
Monday: Chee cheong fun
Tuesday: Pandan cake
Wednesday: Prawn noodles soup
Thursday: Fried chicken wing(my fav!!)
Friday: Red bean/kaya bun(eek!!)
Then everyday there's bound to be bottled Dutch Lady Milk: Chocolate(yeah!!), strawberry, fresh or banana(eek!) flavour for you to choose.
I always grab the chocolate milk if possible.
As for my sister's who's studying in primary one, my mom will always give her 50cents so that she can spend 30cents on prawn noodles, 10cent each on glass bottled Yeos soya bean drink and a phone call back home. Cute isn't it?
Okay after tea break we'll spread the towel we brought along to school, lie on it and have a short nap.
Shortly afterwards we'll play some more games before National Anthem and Pledge taking again before we were dismissed from school. That's when my sister and I will wait for our dad's blue pickup to drive us home.
