Great Disciples
During guru's time, there were
great disciples who spread the message far and wide.
Compared to the third-class people who occupy the offices
of SNDP and Gurukula for some time, what we see is a
great contrast! Renaissance and reformation in action.
Let's start with Mahakavi (Poet
Laureate) Kumaran Asan. When most
of the poets in India have been writing mythological
repeatitions and sermons only, Asan diverted into social
issues. Even when he chose mythological characters like
Sita, the poems were lyrical in nature. First time, there
is a poet who can be classified in the category of
Wordsworth, Shelley and Keats. Here Asan is shown wearing
the Shawl he received from the Prince of Wales. [Recently
in the 80s a third-class leader of a leftist party made
some ridiculous statements about this award!] Click here
for a little lyric by Asan "Pookalam"
Here are some more pictures. (We are searching for
pictures of a few others)
