Swallowed
words:
rough stones stacked against my heart;
I walk on, speechless,
learning a silent tongue when shaken from sleep,
leaving unsaid acts performed
on raw basement floors;
atrocious language stuck in my throat.
I want to forget a shadow that reminds,
the positions of the zodiac,
a girl who procured
and I called her my friend,
mute fear in a mechanic's garage,
wet panties;
something uncomfortable,
not right and not talked about.
Hazy recollection,
I wonder how stone walls shut me up;
I converse in garbled song.
