Gauthus gazes at you. "Go forth and learn the powers within you. Battle and glory are your fortune. Seek them and conquer! If you triumph and survive, return for more training as you prove worthy."

Looking earnestly at you, Gauthus says, "The path of a Warrior Mage is one fraught with danger and reward. We combine the use of arms with the powers of Elemental Magic to form a potent combination. From us, the student will learn to wield both physical weapons and the powers that reside in the Higher Planes. This is not a path all may tread safely." He looks at you, dark eyes boring into your soul. "For those who survive," he continues, "and show the proper aptitudes, the Greater Mysteries will be revealed."

Gauthus says in solemn tones, "The Guild of Warrior Mages was established by Arhat the Fire Lion to defend the people of Elanthia with our weapons and magic. The road our Guildmembers must travel is not an easy one, but the rewards are well worth the difficulty." The Guildmaster glances at a red-banded hawk, his familiar, with a smile. "A Warrior Mage is a master of the six elements of our world, and can bend them to his will. Our powers are great, and so is the responsibility."

Gauthus looks at you solemnly, sizing you up. "I believe you have the potential within you," he says. "Join us and begin your journey towards power and knowledge." Join Gauthus says, "Consider your choice carefully, Modlikall. The path of the Warrior Mage is not for the faint of heart, weak of arm or dull of wits."

Gauthus nods slowly. "So be it," he says.
Your mind goes blank, your ears fill with the insanity of eternal chaos and there is a howling sound all about you. With a start of shame, you realize the howling is coming from your own mouth, gaping wide in an endless scream. From within the black whirlwind that is your inner self, the last thing you see is the visage of the Guild Leader, eyes gleaming like ice gems in the frosty moonlight. "Your mind is emptied of nonsense. Now we will fill it with what is needful."

Slowly you awaken, aching in places you did not know could ache. The Master grins tightly at you and says, "Now you are one of us. Soon you will go forth to further your new skills."

Gauthus sizes you up with a sharp glance and then steps forward to shake your hand in a bone-crushing grip. "Welcome, young warrior!", he booms. "I am glad you have found your way to us at last!"

The Guild Leader speaks lower, looking earnestly at you. "You have chosen a mighty path, one fraught with danger and reward. We combine the use of arms with the powers of Elemental Magic to form a potent combination. From us, you will learn to wield physical weapons as well as the powers that reside in the Higher Planes. This is not a path all may tread safely."

"If you survive," he continues, "and if you demonstrate the proper aptitudes, the Greater Mysteries will be taught to you."

Gauthus continues, "Shortly, you should go forth and arm yourself for combat. Acquire sword and shield and armor as best ye can afford. You must learn to fight 'ere you tackle the mystical powers. Learn well the path to this place, for you will oft need to return."

Moving closer, the Guild Leader whispers, "Listen well. When you have the experience, training and power, you will learn our greatest secret: the Summoning!"

"You will learn the means of forging your own Talisman and through it, to summon a servant, a companion and a friend." He reaches to stroke the wings of the hawk, who rubs a razor-keen beak across the scarred hand. "Soon, you will go and begin your training."

Gauthus gazes at you. "Go forth and learn the powers within you. Battle and glory are your fortune. Seek them and conquer! If you triumph and survive, return for more training as you prove worthy."
At this point you wil need to choose a spell. We will go over that in the next section.
