Camelback Mountain (and I use the term loosely)

There are only two trails to the top of Camelback Mountain, one if you consider they meet at the top: Echo Canyon, and Cholla (pronounced cho ee ya). Echo Canyon is the more popular of the two and is a bit shorter, although steeper in several sections. The Cholla trail follows the more gental slopes on the eastern part of the mountain but is more exposed near the summit.

Echo Canyon

Getting There: The trail head parking lot is located just east of the intersection of Tatum and McDonald. Turn south off of McDonald just east of Tatum onto Echo Canyon drive. The parking lot is at the top of the hill and is far too small for the popularity of this trail. If the lot is full wait your turn for a spot, try the street, or use the cul-de-sac at the end of McDonald to the west of Tatum. If you're leaving the parking lot turn west onto McDonald, thtought the light at Tatum, down the hill, and just before you turn with the road turn right. You will see the cul-de-sac on your right before the curve in McDonald.

Cholla

Starting from the East side of Camelback Mountain is the Cholla Trail.

Getting There: The trail head is off of Invergorden, south of McDonald. There isn't any parking at the trail head so you will need to park on Invergorden. Pay attention to the no parking signs, they do write tickets. Once you're parked you need to walk up WHATEVER STREET to the trail head (two or three blocks). The trail starts on the south side of the street and is well marked.
