Students Beware
By Nina Flemings
A recent increase in students misbehaving has caused an increase in teacher
and staff monitoring. Some students have reported seeing more staff in the
corridors after hours. One student, who wishes to remain unnamed, told me
that he is certain at least one teacher has decided to catch every student
he can in the act of breaking rules. Whether this is true or not has yet
to be proven, though investigation of that subject will certainly continue.
As for many of the other rules broken, such as forbidden areas being entered,
banned objects being snuck in, and curses and hexes being preformed, a recent
poll suggests at least twice as many students have been caught in recent
days.
Whether you choose to believe this reporter or not is entirely up to you.
But its clear to me that security in the castle, and grounds, has reached
a new level. And this reporter, for one, will think twice before breaking
a rule next. Students beware, watch your back, and as always, remember to
have an alibi.
A New Hogwarts?
By Sarreaha Ailk
Since the surprise ending of last years term, many students have been
curious as to the particulars of the situation. However, students have become
even more curious upon the return to Hogwarts to find a whole new staff in
place. Many of the questions from the beginning of the year still remain:
Why are there new teachers? Why did the previous Staff quit? And what exactly
did happen last year?
It is not in this reporters power to answer these questions. However,
through various means, it has been discovered that these new changes have
something to do with the reasons students were sent home early the previous
term. One can only assume that these changes go hand in hand with the reason
of why Headmaster Wrencroft is now in charge instead of Headmaster Hencraft
and Deputy Headmistress Wellington. As to where our former Headmaster and
Deputy Headmistress have disappeared to this reporter does not know. Questions
have been asked by this reporter to a few Professors and even Headmaster
Wrencroft, however neither of the fore-mentioned have given any information
on the events of last year or the questions that are on the students
minds.
With the coming of new professors, students have been finding the need to
adjust. This has not been an easy process. There have been many occurrences
of disrespect to Professors, questions of the creditability of Professors
in their area of expertise, as well as various other acts on both the sides
of students and Professors. However, this reporter asks that time is given
to both student and staff a like as they adjust to these new changes. Students
remember the Professors are not like the previous ones and will not act the
same, and Professors are asked to remember the same thing. We are all still
adjusting to this huge change in our lives and it will take time until Hogwarts
takes on its former normalcy. However, who knows? This may be a time for
a new Hogwarts.
But the question remains; will we make this New Hogwarts better
or worse than the old one?
Comings and Goings
By An Anonymous Writer
Throughout this term at Hogwarts, many students have been coming and going.
Hogwarts has been receiving new students as well as having lost some. However,
sometimes students do not realize a fellow student has left until after the
fact and even then. Since the start of this term, we have lost some students.
This article will try to name them all, but it is possible one may be missed.
It will be best to start with those who people have announced their leaving.
First off, Bianca Cassidy formerly of Gryffindor has left the school. Kodi
McMahon of Hufflepuff was kind enough to tell everyone in the Great Hall
at the time that Miss Cassidy was forced to return home due to her father
falling ill. The members of the Silver Snitch hope that since then her father
is doing better and that Miss Cassidy is doing well in her new environment.
Sarah Calameeti of Hufflepuff has also stopped in the Great Hall to make
the announcement of the departure of a fellow student. Although, Miss Calameeti
seemed shy, she was able to tell those listening that Wednesday McNeil formerly
of Slytherin has left Hogwarts as well. However, unlike with Miss Cassidy
we do not know for which reason. The Silver Snitch would like to thank both
Mr McMahon and Miss Calameeti for stepping up and informing their fellow
students of the departure of one from their ranks.
Students that have also left, whose names this writer found through a large
amount of digging are: Miss Bridget OMalley formerly of Ravenclaw,
Miss Avril Bedeau formerly of Gryffindor, Miss Shay Lore formerly of Gryffindor,
Miss Alaia Abaroa formerly of Ravenclaw, and Mr Adam Duran formerly of
Hufflepuff.
Past our fellow students, two Professors have also left the halls of Hogwarts.
Professor Katherine Marcelle was found to have resigned from her position
as Mythology Professor. When asked why she resigned, Professor Marcelle was
stated as saying she had Family Problems to attend to and did
not see herself returning to Hogwarts. Instead, she had made mention of returning
to her former position before Hogwarts as it was closer to her
family. The other Professor to have left Hogwarts was the schools
former Deputy Headmistress, Charms Professor and Head of Hufflepuff,
Professor Esmaralda Mullane, who made her leaving known when she failed to
complete her duty during the Sorting Feast at the beginning of the term.
To everyone who has left Hogwarts, we hope that wherever your path leads
you that it will be grand. We were privileged to know you and will not forget
you and the impact you have made in our lives. May our paths cross again.
Besides students and Professors leaving the school, we have also received
a few new arrivals. First off, the school has received Deputy Headmistress
Ambrosia Kavanaugh who has taken on First Year Flying Lessons as well as
Quidditch Director. With any luck we could have some Quidditch matches next
term. Also Professor Samantha Carlisle, who is teaching Transfiguration and
is also heading Hufflepuff, and Professor Raelith Montgomery, who is teaching
Arithmancy, has joined the Hogwarts Staff, and we should expect to see them
teaching in the next lesson.
The school has also received a few new students. To keep from being bias
this writer shall not name any names so as not to accidentally leave one
out. However, this writer would also like to welcome all new students to
Hogwarts and encourages fellow students to act likewise in giving the new
students a fond welcoming.

Quidditch Star's Daughter Returns
Home
By Anonymous
Small, youngling and Hufflepuff first year Jane 'Janie' Moran returned home
over the past week due to her father suffering injuries in his match versus
the Eindoven Eyelops. While Jane asks that prayers be made for her father's
swift recovery she also states that she shall not be returning to Hogwarts
next Fall per her family's wishes.
While never one to have taken any kind of liking to quidditch, she still
cares about her father.
Her brother, Nemo and sister Isabelle left earlier in the year, leaving her
both alone, and nervous. Her final remark before leaving the Entrance Hall
to me was "My family comes first".
Term 2 just the same as 1?
By Anonymous
A new term has started at Hogwarts and already a change has been noticed
in the air. Faculty members seemed to be dwindling once again and one can't
help but wonder which of the current Professors shall be the next to leave.
Bets has been placed up by both Slytherin and Gryffindor houses. Odds have
been stacked up in Ju'Adour and Valaire's favor however there have been a
few bets as to Prewett being the next to go. However, those tend to be wishful
thinkers or so this writer believes. Only time will tell! Locate your nearest
Gryffindor or Slytherin student to get in on these bets!
Student numbers also seem to be at an all time low. When asked around, few
students and professors were able to account for this phenomenon. One can
only hope that this is only a temporary problem and will be resolved soon.
There have rumors that if student size continues to dwindle that Hogwarts
may close!
So far, this term seems to be getting off to a rocky start with the small
number of staff and students. With such small numbers there is a small chance
that any activities planned for the term (such as the rumors of a ball) may
be canceled until things improve.
Vampires in Hogwarts?
By a Concerned Student
It has lately been rumored that a vampire has been hired to teach the students
of Hogwarts. One Professor Gyps of Astronomy is suspected to be of vampire
origins. This Professors has yet to be seen during the day time and has only
been encounted at night. She has also shown a dislike of garlic. Although
this writer has not seen it himself, there has been rumored of a few students
seeing that she has sharp canine teeth, common to vampires.
As of yet, there has been no reports of any bitings in the school but the
term is still young. It is this writer's intention to place all students
on their guard when around this Professor.
This writer cannot help but wonder what was going through the mind of the
Headmaster when employing this Professor. |

News to the Wise
By Samanatha Walkins, Ravenclaw 6
The year had started out well. The mirror image of the previous years some
may even say. However, all that had stopped with the first student to disappear.
Not many people knew Slytherin Sydney Volpe, unless they had crossed her
path and received her sarcastic tongue. It was no wonder then, that until
the disappearances of Cooper siblings, Logan and Rylie that no one realized
that students were in fact disappearing.
But now, since that time, many more students had disappeared. Many wonder
who will be next? Will it be them? Only last month the Headmaster had made
an announcement to avoid anything strange in the castle. He had just made
this announcement after the disappearances of Gryffindor's Head Boy Cassidy
Lucas and Prefect Cosette Camerson. Where was this warning after the Coopers?
Perhaps these disappearances all could have been avoided if the Headmaster
had spoken sooner.
And yet perhaps not. Not long after his speech did Hufflepuff's Mackenzie
Thantos and Ravenclaw Prefect Isaiah Alban joined the ranks of those gone.
The question of who is next still remains. Students have even been pulled
out school. Not a day has gone by that this writer has not heard of at least
one student leaving the school.
However, with the last set of disappearances a clue has been found. The cause
has been found. Through careful means, this writer has uncovered the truth.
Students, avoid strange doors. If you don't know what's behind one, don't
open it! Yes! A door is behind the disappearances. A closet. Who would ever
thought that such a thing could be considered so evil, but it's true.
Cursed Coopers
By Riley Henderson, Slytherin 5
Since word of missing Logan and Rylie Cooper of Hufflepuff, one cannot but
wonder if said Cooper family is cursed. That's right, I said cursed. With
their disappearances, this whole problem came to light. Of all who have hence
gone missing, only the Coopers have suffered the greatest in losing two members
of their family.
However, following said disappearances, the remaining Coopers have just been
falling into a hole. Ravenclaw Cooper Dylan has been noted to lose spark
in lessons. No longer the one to pipe up answers but sit in the back of the
classroom and mope. Remaining youngest Hufflepuff Cooper, Jett has been seen
to be visiting the Counselor and is said to be on the verge of a mental
breakdown. And final Hufflepuff Cooper Oliver is said to have already hit
rock bottom.
Former flirter is no longer the apple of the female population's eye as he
seemed to disappear from the sight of everyone. After disappearance of Gryffindor
Prefect Cosette Cameron, O. Cooper has just withdrawn from the eye of everyone.
How can one family carry so much sorrow and depression. Well, in the opinion
of this writer, the Coopers should just leave the school. They had already
proven their family is cursed.
One cannot help but wonder if another Cooper will be next.
Sane or Insane?
By Rodger Fisher, Hufflepuff 7
Since the beginning of the year, all one reads in the Silver Snitch now is
in someway about the disappearances. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint, but this
will probably be another one of the articles. However, to the meat of this
article. Are people going insane at Hogwarts?
Walking down the corridors recently I have heard talk of students talking
to Ghost like images, of people. Some have even claimed to have spoken with
one of the students have disappeared! Gryffindor T. Bennet, confessed to
having seen something resembling missing Gryffindor A. Rodare. She states
to having "heard him say her name." However, she was quick to confess that
she had thought that had "probably been dreaming."
However, Bennet is not the only account of such things happening. Many people
have confessed to have been seeing Ghosts. Ghosts they have never
seen before in the school. Could they just be Ghosts? Sure. But could they
be the imaginings of the occupants of the school? Possible as well. However,
how could so many people in the school be seeing such things? Is there a
mass hallucination going around? Or is there something more to these apparitions?
We can only wait and see. Hopefully, an answer will be revealed soon. |

This Month's Whispers
By Gossip Columnist Victoria Gédéon
Good morning Hogwarts, this is your friendly neighborhood Victoria
Gédéon, new resident gossip of the school. Even so early into
the new year, we've found juicy new things happening, as well as loose ends
from last year tied up.
The drama of the ball a year behind us, Maia Galvan and Dustin Rodare made
up in the beginning of the 2042-2043 school year, but rumor has it that their
relationship is shaky once more. Sources tell us that in the summer, yet
another episode took place; Maia seems to get bored when Dustin isn't around.
We won't reveal any details, but let's make it clear that the young couple
has some 'issues' to work through.
Eddie Lucas seems to have generated a flock of following girls, while also
suddenly turning pensive and quiet. We speculate this is related to the sudden
disappearance and return of Cassidy Lucas, his supposed twin brother. However,
this has not diminished his popularity level: Elsa Abbey follows him around
as usual, and a few other girls have been seen to blush in his presence.
Last year we were left wondering as to the romantic situation of Kittseta
Lochrial, a Slytherin girl now in her seventh year, and two-time prefect
of her house. Though she attended the ball a year ago with Brad Kalnasy and
dated him thereafter, she was caught snogging graduate Dorian McCantro in
an empty classroom last year just before she disappeared. According to my
sources, since then Dalliah Landcastor, formerly dating McCantro, has broken
their ties and moved on. Now, however, the question remains of what will
become of Kittseta. Where will this school year take us, now that McCantro's
temptations are gone?
On a less open-ended note, school healer Sabine Jayson, now Jayson-Evans,
was married this summer to Care of Magical Creatures professor Mark Evans.
The two have two children, twins, Isaiah and Maya Jayson-Evans. Jayson-Evans
was pregnant for most of last school year.
Hufflepuff fourth year Jett Cooper, brother to famous flirt Oliver Cooper,
is rumored to have a relationship with fellow fourth year Fiona Badrinath,
a Ravenclaw. Cooper was in a deep depression last year when his sister and
brother Rylie and Logan disappeared, but now that they have returned it seems
he has moved on. Neither Cooper nor Badrinath confirmed the relationship.
First year Jennifer Curwood is rumored to be the illegitimate daughter of
substitute professor Sarah Anne Woods, who so far has remained silent on
this subject. Daniel Curwood, the young girl's father, has also said nothing.
Slytherin student Kerry Langdon remains a seventh year this year, having
flunked last year's courses.
Leanne Davis and Cassidy Lucas, now Head Girl and Boy, are still the favorite
couple of most of the student population, and no problems seem to have arisen
between the two lovebirds.
After last year's scandal of Jesse Cortes cheating on girlfriend Cosette
Cameron, with a boy, out-of-the-closet homosexual Laurence Davis, it seems
the two are another impossible-to-break-apart couple here at Hogwarts, and
they are happily together again, though how long it lasts we may never know.
This year there will be much speculation about certain couples with one half
in seventh year; what will happen when they graduate, is what we all wonder.
Cortes and Cameron are one of these unknowns, as well as Rodare and Galvan.
Stay tuned next month for more of the ongoings of Hogwarts, with Victoria
Gédéon.
Weather about It
By Sarreaha Ailk, Hufflepuff 6
This term the weather has been in the ups and downs. Students and staff alike
have commented on the drifting temperatures and occurrences that are rare
for this time of year. However, very little can be said as to why we are
experiencing uncommonly hot weather for the end of summer and the start of
fall.
However, many students expressed a wish that winter not follow this extreme
temperature patterns. Many students prefer a normal winter to that of a snow
storm or weather reaching twenty below. After all, if the weather is so cold
that means the castle will be full from top to bottom with the occupants
of our lovely school.
Will we be seeing some cabin fever this winter? |
