One of my readers brought to my attention the existence of a new K6-III CPU that operates at a core voltage of 2.2V instead of the usual 2.4V.
I did some investigation at the AMD website and downloaded the latest technical document for the K6-III from http://www.amd.com/K6/k6docs/index.html. It turns out that AMD has released new versions of the K6-III with part number suffixes AFR and AFX that use 2.2V core voltage. So the only way to be sure is to look at the markings on the CPU. I've put some screen captures of the technical document here for our info.
