The face is the initial menu
with which we're presented when we meet people. Ironically, it is the internet
which has altered this situation slightly, although even there, it seems more
or less mandatory after sometimes a very brief introduction, to exchange pictures.
Some people use fake pictures. They know the power of the visage, and no doubt
do not consider their own to be the Obi Wan Kenobi of faces, unless, of course,
they are lying about their age (which is still a face issue) or are pretending
to be the opposite sex to their own.
I'm sure at some point a gay man pretending to be a woman must have had hot
cyber-sex with a lesbian pretending to be a man. But then, if they both enjoyed
it, where's the harm?
However, had they experienced face-to-face contact for one second, the instant
mutual exchange of unspoken information would have ended everything.
