Code of Ethics - the standards by which a referee is expected to conduct her/himself. (SNS Policies Section 7.5)

Soccer Nova Scotia has established an internet page for information about the various Referee Development Committee programs. In particular this is where you will find information about the Assessment, Instruction and Mentor programs.

FIFA - go to this site for the official current Laws of the Game.  In addition you can go to sections on refereeing and the history of soccer, as well as the history of the laws of the game. You can also link to many other soccer sites from here.

Canadian Soccer Association - links you to the Referee Centre of the CSA which includes the referee's code of ethics, articles on fair play, handling dissent, etc.

US Soccer Federationcontains a great deal of information (mostly in pdf format) including advice to referees on the laws of the game, and a guide to procedures to be followed from the time the officials enter the field to the final whistle.  Please note that, in some instances, the advice given may not be identical to that approved by the CSA or FIFA.

Football Referee -  this is the official website of the Referees' Association of England and contains questions and answers on the laws of the game, quizzes, and training information.

Questions and Answers - a good source of information on the many situations a referee encounters in his/her career.  Referees pose questions about actual game scenarios which are answered by US Soccer Federation representatives.

Ask the Ref - similar to Questions and Answers above but it does not speak for any sanctioned soccer organization.  This site also contains many interesting, in depth articles on a variety of topics of interest to referees.

Corsham Ref - a website which combines the Laws of the Game with Quizzes about the laws; provides a history of the laws of the game; includes articles on a variety of refereeing topics; offers a number of administrative tools to assist referees in managing their games and schedules; gives information on fitness matters; and even has sections on referee cartoons and jokes.

Pregame Instructions #1- provides detailed instructions on the points a referee should discuss with his/her officials prior to the start of the game; from a Canadian perspective.

Pregame Instructions #2- provides detailed instructions on the points a referee should discuss with his/her officials prior to the start of the game; note that these are written from a USA perspective, but any referee should find them very useful to adapt to his or her game.

Dealing With Hostility - some practical suggestions for handling players, coaches and spectators who verbally or physically abuse referees.

Confidence Through Conflict Resolution - a powerpoint presentation to help referees deal with conflicts in game situations.

Books, Videos, DVD's - includes a brief description of the books, videos and DVD's available, on loan, free, to HDSRA members.
