ISLAM WAS SPREAD BY THE SWORD ?!

ANSWER The FACTs are ! :

Islam conquered hearts, not walls. Many early Muslims set such a splendid example by their Islamic behaviour and therefore people around them became attracted toward a belief which produced such remarkable people. As a result, many people were attracted to the pure teachings of Islam and embraced Islam.

The Holy Quran states clearly "Let there be no compulsion in religion". (chapter 2,v 256). Islam must come from inner conviction and free choice, not from outside force.

One of the many examples which attests to Islam's non violent expansion is the conversion of the Indonesians. No Muslim army ever set foot in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim nation. Islam was established there by traders, merchants, teachers.

Islam however, being equally concerned about the quality of this life and that of the hereafter, has regulated war and fighting. The Holy Quran reflects "Fight in the cause of Allah (God) those who fight you, but do not transgress limits for Allah does not love transgressors". (chapter 2, v190).

War is therefore only permissible under certain conditions like self defence and under well defined limits. It's main aim is to restore Peace and Justice. A well known saying of the prophet is "Do not oppress and do not be oppressed".".

ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF ARABS ?!

ANSWER The FACTs are ! :

Islam is a universal religion which was revealed for the whole of humankind since the Holy Quran was not meant to be confined to one race or a particular nation. The Holy Quran reflects "Truly, this is no less than a message to (all) the worlds-to whoever among you wills to go straight". (chapter 81, v27-28).

In fact, only 15% of the Muslim world are Arabs. Indonesian Muslims form Islam's largest Muslim population. There are large Muslim populations from Pakistan, India, South Africa, Fiji, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Yugoslavia, Somalia and Albania.

JIHAD MEANS HOLY WAR ?!

ANSWER The concept of jihad is generally misconstrued and limited to `holy war'. More broadly jihad means to struggle and make an effort in any activity done for the sake of God. In fact, in Islam, the greatest jihad is regarded as the struggle of the inner self. The prophet is reported to have said "the greatest jihad is against the self".

MUSLIMS ARE ANTI CHRISTIAN ?!

A Muslim cannot be a Muslim without believing in Jesus, in his immaculate conception within the womb of his mother, in his miracles, in the gospel (in its original and pure form) and in his complete submission to Allah's will.

Islam's point of departure from Christianity is that Muslims believe Jesus is a prophet of Allah, and not God or God's son. The Holy Quran reflects "... Christ (Son of Mary) said: O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord...".(Quran 5:75-76).

There are many other references to Jesus which substantiate that Jesus was a prophet of God, in the Holy Quran and one chapter of the Holy Quran is known by the name 'Mary" which shows the respect that Muslims should have for Mary.

The conception of God in Islam is purely monotheistic, confirming the first commandment in the old testament "I am the Lord, your God. You shall have no other gods before me" (Exodus 20). In fact, the trinity as a theological idea is an ancient pagan belief based on the worship of the sun.

MUSLIMS WORSHIP MOHAMMAD ?!

ANSWER The FACTs are ! : Muslims worship one God (Allah) who is the creator. Islam is based on the creed "There is only one God (Allah) and that prophet Mohammad is the messenger of Allah" which is the first pillar of Islam.

The label Mohammedans which implies that Muslim worship Mohammad is therefore misleading and blasphemous. Muslims respect Mohammad as the final messenger of Allah.
