Welcome to the Department of Transport

The Department of Transport is not only responsible for the maintainance of the bus and subway services but also for the management of the goods transport, inter planetary transport aswell. The department also places regulations for civillian vehicles and sets a guideline for the various taxi services to follow.

"What do I hate about my job the most? It's gotta be the SLOps that're too tight to take another way home. Just because we're a couple o' UNI's cheaper,they get onboard an' it's all guns,armour and attitude. They earn at least 100 times more than us regular joes and it makes me sick. A brief guide to the services we provide.

• The Subway Service.
  The subway service on Mort is unfortunately the least reliable way to travel. Since the fall in 300SD the service relies on 'safe paths' to get from A to B (very often through G on the way), and any journey must rely on these in order to travel. This has the unfortunate side effect of causing what would normally be a typical 10 minute train ride take anywhere up to an hour.
  The typical price for a ticket : 10U/Sector.

  The Bus Service.

  With the collapse of the subway services back in 300SD the bus service was brought into life. The buses used are slow but reliable. The average speed of the buses is 5min/mile including stops. The buses are not allowed travel throught the perimeter walls however due to security protocols. Typical times for a single bus stop will give one bus arriving every 40 mins.

  The Gauss Train Service.

  The Gauss Train service is available only for persons with a minimum SCL of 11 and the cost and health risks involved can put many people off from using this form of travel. The trains travel in excess of 680m/s and blackouts are not uncommon. A gauss train station will usually have a train leaving every 60 minutes.
  The typical price for a ticket : 5C/sector.
  

  The Fold Ship Service.

  Possibly the most important duty of the Department of Transport is the maintenance of the Fold Ship routes. Although Dark Lament own the Fold Ships, the Department of Transport leases the vessels in order to bring raw materials to Mort. Transport to offworld locations are managed by this department in conjunction with Dark Lament.
  The typical price for a ticket : 400C/ jump.
  

"Travel by the subways is both a dangerous and enlightenting experience. I once took one trip and Dark Night had blown the track out. 'Course the train plunged straight into the sewers after dropping through 3 levels of supports. Me an' mah squad mate got about 30 civvies to safety. Other 150 or so were Pig bait. Still, that's the subway for you."
