Merkaz Hamagshimim Hadassah in Jerusalem is a combination absorption center and community center, located in the German Colony. Hamagshimim, the adult expression of the Zionist youth movement Young Judaea, has grown in Israel from a small cooperative student apartment into a compound in Jerusalem that houses at least 26 residents and runs a system of year-round cultural, educational and social activities in both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.  Merkaz programs and services provide a support system and a “home” for over 2000 young adults each year.

Merkaz Hamagshimim is pluralist in every sense of the word and caters to all 19-35 year old Olim as well as Israeli’s that encourage and support immigration.

Merkaz Hamagshimim a division of Young Judaea, is Sponsored by Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of American with support from the Aliyah Department of the Jewish Agency for Israel.

How can I find a job?

There are several recruitment companies that specialize in placing English speakers. Our Merkaz Meida (Information Center) contains details of numerous recruitment websites, some of which have English versions.

Another very good way is through friends. This is called protectsia and it can help tremendously in all aspects of life in Israel!

In what area should I look for an apartment?

The most central and convenient area where most Olim are located is between the sea on the west and Ibn Gvirol Street on the east, Nordau Boulevard on the north and Sheinkin on the south.

If you plan on studying at Tel Aviv University then it may be more convenient being in North Tel Aviv within walking distance of the University.

Ichud Olam Shul is located on Ben Yehuda Street near Gordon Street.
