Review
Morgan
Freeman plays the older more wiser cop who is teamed with a new rookie cop who
thinks he knows everything. The use of camera angles and character
identities throughout the movie are excellent.
We
have Morgan Freeman playing Detective William Somerset. He has been in the
force many years, seen every form of crime and knows what to expect from such
atrocities. The direction moulds his character as a man who cares, feels
for others and isn't egotistic. He is a smart man, looking after himself
mentally and physically and doesn't let the job become the most important thing
in his life.
David Mills on the other hand
is a different character all together. He is cocky, believes his theories
are correct and is unkempt. His hair is messy, he cannot be bothered to
take time in putting on his tie and his table manners are disgusting.
The
film begins with a series of crimes which can be quite disturbing depending on
your self control. Scenes which stick in mind are the Man strapped to a
bed or the man who was forced to have sex with a prostitute, whose acting is
amazing.
