Alison Bechdel. More great obscure chick comics. LESBIAN chicks, even! Beautiful pen-n-ink art and involving characters.
Donna Barr. You guessed it, another arty lady. Her comic book, "The Desert Peach" is a one of the finest chunks of historical fiction I've seen in quite some time.
