History:
 |
1947 |
Hawkins and Forrest, founded by Aldrich S.
Forrest and Mr. Hawkins, opened its doors to the
seafood industry. Conveniently located in Hampton, Virginia, Hawkins
and Forrest began serving the Hampton Roads area with freshly
caught seafood. |
1962 |
Hawkins died causing Forrest to start a new
partnership with with Ralph Marshall. The business was then
renamed from Hawkins and Forrest to Hampton Roads
Seafood, Ltd. |
|
In the beginning, Hampton Roads
Seafood, Ltd. had boats that would bring
the fresh fish right to the docks. Later, they stopped
dealing with the boats and buy and sell fish up and down
the East Coast from Maine to Florida using trucks for transport.
They even handle some products from Europe. |
|
With the retirement of Mr. Forrest and Mr.
Marshall, John Marshall and Ronald Saulman have taken over
the business. |
Present |
Hampton Roads Seafood, Ltd. now
handles frozen products such as breaded and unbreaded shrimp, calamari, scallops, snow crab clusters, crabmeat, clam
strips, crawfish, mussels, squid tubes, oysters, frog legs, fish,
hush puppies, coconut shrimp, french fries, seafood, chicken
breading, and even cooking oil. |
