Handsboro Presbyterian Church
(USA)

History

Handsboro Presbyterian Church was organized by the New Orleans Presbytery on November 18, 1877. The first church building was dedicated on October 15, 1882. After that building was destroyed by fire in August of 1889, the present building was constructed on the same site in 1891. The educational building was added in 1956 through the generosity of Dr. Ema Gay and was named in her honor. With its deep history, the Handsboro Presbyterian Church is a group of people who live with an eye to the future. We are growing in our experience of the reality of life in Jesus Christ and we seek to bring others to know Him and to grow with us as He commanded us to do until He comes again.
Some of the decendants of the original founders still belong to our church
and have grown up in it, but the church has more than enough heart and room to welcome new members who can begin the tradition of their families belonging for generations.

Although we are located on busy Pass Road, we are nestled in the midst of huge old Live oaks on grounds that seem to belong to another era. There is a peaceful sense surrounding our church and grounds, and both seem to be inviting you into its arms.
