MAIN PAGE – GENERAL INFO – LEGAL INFO – GUESTBOOK – SPECULUM MORTIS – PICCU WICCU
HAPPO Happo is a Finnish freeware game development team. It is operated by two people, Frans "Onion King" Saukko and Samu "sid" Peltola, having served as their hobby for some six years. Games are and have always been programmed and assembled using the program Game Maker created by Mark Overmars – first v5.0, nowadays v6.1. Happo has released one finished game, the acclaimed point-and-click horror adventure Speculum Mortis, and is currently working on the platform adventure Piccu Wiccu. Being quite an impulsive and innovative team, Happo has a history laden with tens of (if memory serves Yours Truly right, more than fifty) unfinished projects. During their old days, when they still worked under a different name (Happo was originally named Spirit Vortex, later Soulwhirl), they started a myriad of projects which never saw daylight, hardly even partial completion. These projects include such titles as Ancient Wars, a real-time strategy based on the glacial age; Elwin/Elwidro/Elwyd, Piccu Wiccu's ancestor of a kind; combat platformer Ninja Panda; even a racing game called Flaming Wheels; and the Halloween-themed shoot-'em-up arcade platformer Mortpolis which was one of the few heavily focused projects of ours (Elwin, Speculum Mortis and Piccu Wiccu being the others). One day the two fellows realized it was time they revised the team thoroughly. An hour or two was spent inventing a new name for the team from a selection of Finnish words. Eventually the name Happo 'acid' was chosen. From that point on, Happo's goal has been to have only one project at a time. Reform apparently proved useful: after some five years since the beginning of FS and SP's game development career they could finally be proud of themselves, for they had finally released their very first finished game, Speculum Mortis. Although this is a remarkable point in Happo's history, it's definitely not over yet. We are developing Piccu Wiccu with the same enthusiasm that we've always had, and with the wisdom gained through these game-ridden years. Some things change over time; during Elwin's development we used to transfer files using 3,5" diskettes, now MSN messenger or USB memory sticks do the work. Still, some things remain the same: all the graphics are still made with Microsoft Paint, and Mark Overmars' Game Maker is still the best possible option for our needs. Come what may, Happo will be doing good. |

FRANS SAUKKO | |||||
As the lazy-ass programmer of Happo, FS is the sole person responsible for all the bugs that might annoy you while playing our games. He also composes all the musical score and creates the majority of sound effects. During prolonged programming sessions, FS swears a lot, sits in the most awkward postures known to man, and feeds himself with dangerously high amounts of caffeine. You'd better pray for your life if you're to approach him while he's fixing a bug – the scent of adrenaline serves as a warning. He also happens to suffer from serious know-it-all complex and constant fatigue, despite he sleeps more than a hibernating bear. At the moment FS is mossing in lukio, which is pretty much equivalent to US senior high school. FS is usually known as "Onion King" within various Internet communities |

SAMU PELTOLA | |||||
SP is Happo's graphics artist who has an indescribable urge to express his most bizarre products of imagination as graphics. Also possesses a twisted obsession of hiding irrelevant Easter eggs into backgrounds. In addition to his skills in art, SP has also been blessed with an amazingly short-lived memory when it comes to Happo game design, conceiving previously mentioned ideas over and over again – an obvious symptom of multiple caffeine overdoses. Unfortunately, SP doesn't have too much time to work on graphics because a) he is studying to become a media assistant, b) he is a probable member of the "Homo sapiens" species, thus possessing a need for sleep. SP is usually known as "sid" within various Internet communities
