Don't Leave Me

~Chapter 1~

"You are such an ass hole!"  Kayla yelled as she slammed the door to her room.  Her and Brian have gotten into yet another fight.  Their relationship has been going down hill.  They don't know what happened.  They used to be glued to each other's sides.  Then they just got more and more distant.  It was really starting to scare them.  They thought that they would end up being together for the rest of their lives and this had to happen.
Kayla thought it was because they started to get really busy.  Brian with his touring and Kayla recording her first album.  When one person was free the other was gone.
Kayla laid down on her bed and covered her face with one arm.  She couldn't really remember what they were even fighting about.  She never really could remember.  Neither could Brian.  She figured that Brian would go downstairs to the living room and wait for her to come down like he always had.  Just so they could talk things through.
Kayla stayed in her room for awhile just thinking about what had just happened and trying to figure out what she was going to do.  She really did love Brian but she just couldn't stand fighting with him all the time.  She came to a conclusion of what she wanted to do.
She took a deep breath and got up to look in her mirror.  She was a pretty girl.  Not absolutely gorgeous but very pretty and natural looking.  She didn't wear much makeup.  She didn't think that she really needed to.  She picked up a brush and brushed her long brown hair.  She walked to the door and opened it.  She heard that the tv was on and assumed that it was Brian since her roommates Amber and Heather were out with their boyfriends.
She walked down the stairs and saw Brian laying on the couch watching some old movie on tv.
"Brian we have to talk."  She said as she sat across the room from him.
"Yeah we do."  he replied.
"This really isn't working out Brian.  All we do is fight and I don't want to do that anymore.  I think we need some space from each other.  Maybe even see other people."  Kayla looked at the floor as she said this.  When she was finished she looked up at him and saw a bit of anger and hurt on his face.
"What did you meet someone else or something?  Is that why you want to break it off with me?"  he said with his voice rising.
"No Brian I didn't.  Why do you always have to start something when I'm just trying to tell you how I feel?"
"I don't."  he said
"I'm sorry I just don't think this is working."
"Just because we are in a rough spot doesn't mean that you have quit on this relationship."
"Brian this has been going on for about 2 months now."  she paused for a minute to see if there was anything he wanted to say.  He sat still, looking at her.  She couldn't tell what he was thinking.
"All right."  Brian finally said.  "If space is what you want, then space is what you're going to get."  He stormed off out the door and to his car leaving Kayla to cry once more.  She wasn't sure how many times she has cried over Brian.  She was going to make sure that this was going to be the last time.

~Chapter 2~

*One month later*

"I wish you didn't have to leave.  I'm really going to miss you."  Kayla said talking on the phone with AJ.  Her and AJ are the best of friends.  They practically grew up together.  AJ along with the rest of the group were about to go on another US tour.  Kayla was also touring with a group but for some reason her manager wouldn't tell her who she was touring with.  It was supposed to be a surprise.
"I'm going to miss you too.  Who will I get to go shopping with me at the late hours of the night?  So have you talked to Brian at all?"  he asked changing the subject.
"No.  What am I supposed to say?  It's just so weird being around him.  I've only talked to him once after we broke up and that was really hard."
Brian and Kayla have really kept our distance.  Kayla never had a boyfriend after Brian.  And from what she heard Brian hasn't had a girlfriend either.  She really missed Brian but she just couldn't talk to him because she didn't think he still had any feelings for her.
"Well I don't know.  I think you should go and talk to him."
"Yeah well I don't think it's such a good idea.  I have to get going. My manager should be calling me soon about who I'm touring with."
"All right I'll call you when ever I can."  AJ said.
"Bye."
"See ya."
Kayla hung up the phone and watched a little tv waiting for her manager to call.  After about 2 episodes of I Love Lucy, her manager finally called.
"Hey Kayla it's Don."  Came a voice over phone.
"Oh hey."
"Are you all packed for your tour?"
"Yeah I'm all set."  Kayla answered.
"Well I guess you want to know who you are touring with."
"Yeah that would be nice."
"I think you will be happy to know that you are touring with the Backstreet Boys."

~Chapter 3~

*The next day*

"I don't think I really want to travel on the same bus as Brian, AJ."  Kayla said as AJ pushed her on the bus.
"You'll live."  he said.  He took her things and led her to her bunk where he set everything down.  "You'll be all right.  Don't worry.  This is going to be a fun tour.  And maybe you and Brian can talk things over and maybe just be friends."
"Yeah I hope so."
Nick was in the back room playing some nintendo waiting for the others to arrive.  When he heard AJ and Kayla he said,
"Hi!"
Kayla and AJ made their way to the back room to talk to him.
"Hey Nick how are you?"  Kayla asked as she sat down.
"Good and you?"
"Good."
The three talked for awhile until almost everyone was on the bus.  Kevin and Howie had arrived at the same time and they were just waiting for Brian to show up.
"Brian know's about me being here right?"  Kayla asked.
"Well actually he doesn't."  Kevin answered.
"We thought it would be easier to get him on the bus this way."  Nick added.
"That would have been nice if we could do that to Kayla."  said AJ.  "I had to push her all the way on."
They sat there a little while longer talking and playing nintendo waiting for Brian.  Within 5 minutes he got there.
"Hey guys."  Brian yelled back to the rest as he put his stuff on his bed.  Then he went to join the rest of them.  "Ready for another....tour?..."  He hardly finished his sentence when he saw Kayla.
~What is she doing here?~  he wondered.
"Hi Brian."  Kayla said not making eye contact with him.
"Hi."  he said back.  The bus left heading toward there first location.  Nashville Tennessee.

~Chapter 4~

"Hey Nick can I talk to you for a second?"  Brian asked still standing in the doorway.
"But I almost beet my high score."  he complained.
"Nick.  Please."
Nick groaned and got up and followed Brian towards the front of the bus.
"So what's Kayla doing here?"  he asked softly so that no one would hear him.
"She's our opening act.  AJ wanted her to come along on our bus."  Nick answered.
"Why didn't anyone tell me this?"
"I don't know.  Maybe a surprise?"
They both went back and watched some tv with the rest.  It was really uncomfortable for Kayla to be sitting there with Brian in the room.  She couldn't understand why.  She then got up and went to her bunk to find her head phones.  Brian got up to follow her.  He just had to talk to her.  And he was hoping that she would listen.
"Hey can we talk?"  he asked as he approached her.
"Uh yeah.  What about?"  she asked trying not to show that she was so uncomfortable talking to him.
"Come with me so the others don't hear."  They both went up to the front of the bus and sat down at the table.
"So.....What did you want to talk to me about?"  she asked.
"I was hoping that we could be friends and at least talk to each other.  This silence between us is killing me.  I need to know that you can at least be my friend again.  Like we used to be before we started dating."  Brian said.
"Yeah I would like that."  she said.  Brian smiled and she just had to smile back.  His smile would always make her smile.  It was kind of contagious  They both got up and Brian gave her a hug.  She wished he wouldn't have done that but she hugged him back.  It felt so good to be in his arms that she didn't really want to let go.  They finally did and they sat back down to talk for a little while.  AJ could see them from where he was sitting in the back.  He saw them hug and smiled.  He was happy that they were actually talking again.

*2 weeks later*

"Finally some time off."  Nick said as he laid down on his bed.  Kayla was in his room because she was bored and everyone else seemed to be sleeping.  They had 2 days to themselves.  And they were all sleeping in.
The tour had had been going well.  The crowd seemed to really like her and her music.  She loved performing for them.  She had a single out and she heard it for the first time on the radio while they were on there way to there third concert to Milwaukee Wisconsin.  She was so happy to hear it.  People started to sing along with her as she sang that song.  She thought that was really cool.
Her and Brian had starting talking a lot more and he started to be one of her really close friends.  She missed not being his girlfriend but she knew she had to deal with it.  It was much harder for Brian.  There were many times when he wanted to tell her that he still wanted to be more than friends but he didn't dare.  He didn't want to ruin what they had.  He decided to give it a little more time.
It was only 11:00 and Kayla and Nick were really bored and couldn't figure out what to do.
"Hey I got an idea."  Kayla said.
"What would that be?"
"Well on the way here I found a park and it had a basketball court.  Why don't we play a little one on one?"
"Sounds good to me but we need a ball."
"Brian has on in his room."
They left Nick's room and walked down the hall to Brian's room.  Nick knocked on the door and Brian soon came and opened it.  He must have been sleeping since he was still in his boxers.  Kayla pretended that she dropped something down the hall and went to go 'pick it up' to avoid having to look at him.  When she got back Nick had the ball and they started for the park.
