~Chapter 5~ After about an hour of playing Kayla ended up beating Nick by 4 points. "Ha!  I beet you!"  she said while dribbling the ball. "Yeah well I was being easy on you."  he said with a smile. "Yeah sure uh huh you think that."  Nick then went for the ball but Kayla was too fast and grabbed it.  He went for it again while it was in her arms.  As they tugged on the ball Kayla fell to the ground.  Nick tripped over her and ended up falling over her.  The ball rolled away and Nick stayed on top of Kayla.  They were laughing for awhile and finally stopped and looked into each other's eyes.  Nick started leaning in closer to her and they kissed.  Kayla was very surprised by this.  They finally pulled away and Nick got up and helped her get up.  She wasn't sure what that kiss was supposed to mean.  Nick went to get the basketball and started walking away. "Come on we should be getting back."  he said. Kayla caught up with him and they walked back to the hotel talking as if nothing had happened. *At the hotel* Kayla went to AJ's room when she got back.  She had to tell him what had happened between her and Nick.  She was really confused on what that kiss meant if it really meant anything at all. "So what were you doing this morning?"  AJ asked as I walked in the room. "I went and played basketball with Nick."  she answered. She sat down on his bed and he sat in a chair in the corner of the room. "Ok what's up there seems to be something wrong."  he said.  He always knew when something was wrong.  Even when she hardly showed it.  That sometimes scared her. "Well......he kissed me." His eyes grew wide and his mouth dropped open. "He kissed you?" "Yeah.....and I don't know what that's supposed to mean.  I don't even know how I feel about him now." "Well did you even talk to him about it?" "No.  He acted as though it had never happened." "I think you should talk to him about it."  he said. "I don't want to right now.  But I will."  They talked for awhile longer then they went to gather up everyone else so they could get out of the hotel and do something. ~Chapter 6~ *3 days later Kayla and Nick never really did talk about that kiss.  They seemed to have been getting a lot closer.  Nick really did have feelings for her but she wasn't sure about him.  At least not yet.  Brian was somewhat having a problem with the two being so friendly.  He knew Nick very well and he always knew when Nick liked a girl.  And he knew he liked Kayla. Their next concert was in Las Vegas Nevada.  It was 3 minutes till show time and Kayla was getting ready to go out. "Good luck."  AJ said and walked away to join Kevin, Howie, and Brian, leaving Nick and Kayla alone. "Have fun."  Nick said softly and kissed her.  She pulled away quickly when the music started.  She smiled at Nick and went out on stage. Brian came charging at Nick. "We need to talk."  he said sternly.  They went into a dressing room and closed the door behind them. "What do you think you're you doing?"  Brian asked trying to be as calm as he could. "Brian I have no clue what you're talking about."  He knew what Brian was talking about but wanted to act like he didn't. "The hell you don't!  You know I still love Kayla!  And you go behind my back and make your moves on her!  How could you do that to me?" "Brian you're not dating her!  She doesn't even know how you feel!  How do you expect her to wait and see how you feel about her!" "I was going to tell her tonight!  I told you I was going to tell her Nick!  What kind of a friend would do that?" "Brain.."  Before Nick could finish Brian left the room.  As Brian stormed away AJ, Kevin, and Howie looked inside the dressing room and looked at Nick.  he had a very upset look on his face.  They knew what the two had said since they were practically screaming at each other.  Nick saw that the guys were staring at him and he slammed the door. "Wow."  Howie said. "This is bad.  We have a show to do in 15 minutes."  AJ said.  They stopped talking when Kayla joined them.  She had just finished and the next act was about to go up on stage. "Hey guys."  she said. "Hey good job you sounded really good."  AJ commented. "Thanks......Where's Brian and Nick?" "Uh Brian went to get some fresh air and Nick is in there."  Kevin answered while pointing to the dressing room. "Is something wrong?"  she frowned. "No what would make you think that?"  AJ asked. "Well you guys are kind of acting weird...You know...Quiet." "Nah nothing is wrong.  We're just.....saving our energy....for the show."  Howie said.  Brian walked back in the room and saw that Kayla was with them. ~It's now or never~  he thought. "Hey Kayla?  Can I talk to you for a second?"  he said from the door. "Sure."  she smiled and they both went outside the door.  "What's up?" "Well I don't know where to start." ~Chapter 7~ "I still love you Kayla."  Brian began.  "I always have.  I wasn't sure if I should tell you at first.  But now I just have to get it out.  All I want to know is if we can have back what we once had." "I don't know Brian...I..." "Brian come on we have to get on stage."  Kevin said interrupting her sentence. "Think about it."  he said and he walked back with Kevin leaving Kayla alone to think.  Now she was so confused and happy at the same time.  She was confused on if she should get back together with Brian or not.  Another thing was she wasn't sure where her relationship with Nick was going.  But she was happy that Brian still loved her.  She loved him to.  But she just didn't know what to do. The concert went well.  Not as well as it should have.  Every time Nick and Brian would pass each other they would glare at each other.  No one really seamed to notice that anything was wrong and the rest of the guys were happy for that. After the concert was over they all went back to their hotel to sleep. All Kayla could think about was Brian.  Should she give him another chance and date him again, or should they just be friends?  Those were the questions that went through her head.  She was just about to get into bed when someone knocked on the door.  She groaned and got up and went to the door.  When she opened it she saw that it was Nick. "Oh hey I didn't wake you or anything did I?"  he asked. "No come on in." He walked inside and Kayla closed the door behind her. "I just have to get this off my chest.  I'm in love with you Kayla.  I don't know how it happened but it did and you're all I can think about.  You don't have to answer me now, but.....do you want to take our relationship to another level?" "I don't know Nick..."  she started to say. "Just think about."  Then he kissed her on the cheek and left her room.  Now she was really really confused on what she should do.  She tried to go to sleep.  After about an hour she got up and headed toward AJ's room.  She didn't care if she woke him up.  She was driving herself crazy going over all of this in her head and she needed a friend to talk to. She knocked on the door and waited for him to answer.  But there wasn't one.  She knocked again a little bit harder and she heard him yell, "Hold on!"  she could also hear him curse about being woken up.  He opened the door and saw that it was Kayla. "Yes?"  he said. "I really need to talk to you."  she said. She walked into his room and sat down in the chair that was in the corner.  he laid down on his bed on his stomach and looked at her, waiting for her to start talking. "I am so confused AJ.  Brian told me he loved me.  He also told me that he wants to get back together with me." "Well that's a good thing isn't it?"  he asked. "Yeah I guess it is but about an hour ago Nick told me that he loves me." "He did?!"  he was surprised about this.  He didn't think that Nick would actually tell her.  "Yeah and now I don't know what to do." "Well what are your feelings towards them?" "I don't know AJ I'm so confused right now." "I don't think they should have put this kind of pressure you like that." They talked for about an hour trying to figure out what to do.  She came to a conclusion.  Well at least she thought she did. "I think I might choose Nick."  she finally said.  AJ frowned. "Really?" "Yeah why are you looking at me like that?" "Well Kayla think about this.  Let's say you get married.  You're going to spend the rest of your life with him.  Who would you want to spend the rest of your life with if you had to choose between Nick and Brian?" "Well if you put that way....."  she got a big smile on her face.  "Thank you so much AJ!  You are the best!" "I know.  Now leave so I can sleep!"  she got up and gave him a long hug and left the room.  She couldn't wait, she had to go and see Nick so she could talk to him. ~Chapter 8~ Kayla spent about 5 minutes knocking on Nick's door.  Finally he opened it.  He was happy to see that it was her. "Hi."  he smiled.  He moved to let her in and she walked in and stood there to wait for him to close the door. "Nick I......" "Kayla I've been thinking......Brian really does love you and I think that you two should be together.  I'm sorry I shouldn't have told you that I loved you.  A relationship wouldn't work between us.  I don't want to ruin the friendship that I have with Brian." "Ok Nick.  I respect that.  We can still be friends?" "Yeah."  he gave her a hug and she left his room and went straight to Brian's room.  She could tell that Brian was still awake because she could hear the tv.  She knocked on the door and within seconds Brian opened it.  Kayla kissed him and caught him off guard  When they finally pulled apart she looked at him with her arms wrapped around his neck.  He had a big smile on his face. "What was that for?"  he asked. "Well I got to thinking and I want to be with you.  I've been so unhappy without you.  I never stopped loving you." "What about Nick?" "Why don't we go inside and talk."  They both walked back into his room and sat down at the very small table. "Nick isn't the right person for me.  I don't love him the way I love you.  I really want to work things out between us.  That is if you give me another chance." "I love you Kayla.  I really do want this to work out."  he reached his hand out across the table and held hers. "I think I should tell you what happened with me and Nick."  she said.  As she told him everything from the kiss in the park to what had just happened a few minutes ago, he sat pationtly waiting for her to finish.  He wasn't really happy about what he told her but was happy about what Nick had said to her. "Well I'm glad it was me that you wanted to be with."  he said.  They both got up and kissed again.  She really thought that this time around things would be different.  She wouldn't let it get as bad as it did this time.  Neither of them would. ~Epilogue~ When the tour was finally over, Kayla moved in with Brian.  They never once had a fight and had never been closer.  Her and Nick were really good friends and Brian and Nick acted as if there was never a fight. You might think that Brian was really Kayla's second choice because of what Nick had said to her.  That's not true.  She was actually going to tell him that it wouldn't work out between the two of them because her heart belonged with Brian.  She just thought that since Nick said that he just wanted to be friends, she would let it be. About 2 months after Brian and Kayla got back together Brian proposed.  Before they broke up they were dating for 3 years so it's not like they weren't dating for that long.  Nick even found a girlfriend who was also Kayla's best friend.  She was happy for the two of them.
