~Chapter 5~ *Later that Night* "Hey babe." Jessica said to Brian, when she walked into her house. "Where were you?" He asked, clearly angry. "I was out with Matt. Where were you?" "Looking for you. I wanted to spend my last night in town with my girlfriend, but she was missing." "I tried to call, but you weren't home. Why are you so mad?" "Let's think, I'm leaving for a week. And the night before I go, you're out with a guy that you clearly have feelings for." "Brian, I all ready told you about Matt and I." "I know, but you've been talking about him ever since that day in Ohio. Jessica, until you can tell me the truth about the two of you, I don't think that we should see each other any more." "Brian...” Jessica said starting to cry. "Goodbye Jess." With that he walked out the door. Jessica just sat on the couch crying, and thinking about what happened. How could someone she loved and trusted so much do that to her? *3 Days Later* "This place is disgusting." Jessica said to herself. She started to clean when she turned on her CD player. "I'll Never Break Your Heart" came on; she went to the next song. It was "I Need You Tonight". Seeing the trend, she turned on the radio, hoping to not be reminded of Brian. That didn't work. The first song that she heard was "End of the Road". "I have to get out of here." She said. So she went for a walk. While walking it started to rain. ~At least the weather matches my mood.~ She thought to herself. Ever since she and Brian broke up, she hasn't been herself. She continued to walk and think, even in the rain. "Oh, this can't be happening to me." She said after she looked behind her shoulder. ~Chapter 6~ "Wait, slow down Nick. What happened?" AJ asked. Nick called him and started to talk so fast, that AJ couldn't make out a single word he said. "Jessica was hit by a car. She was out this afternoon, and the car apparently lost control and went on the sidewalk she was on." Nick explained. "Is she ok?" AJ asked. "She's stable, and we can see her today." "All right, I'm coming now. See ya." AJ hung up the phone, and went to his car. He called Howie on his cell, and picked him up. *At the Hospital* "Hey, how is she?" Kevin asked Nick when he got to the waiting room. "She's sleeping right now, but they'll let us know when she wakes up." "Did you call Brian?" "Yeah, he wasn't in his hotel room, but I left a message." 5 minutes later, AJ and Howie showed up. "You can see Ms. Mitchell now." The doctor told them. So they all walked into her room and saw her lying there. Her left leg and arm were broken, and so were a few ribs. "Hey guys." Jessica said half-awake. "How do you feel?" Nick said. Out of the 4 guys there, he was the most worried about her. The two of them have grown so close over the last few months. They were practically brother and sister now. "My head hurts a little, but besides that, I'm fine." She tried to sit up, but when she did she winced in pain. Kevin and AJ helped her sit up. "Thanks." She said. They stayed with her over-night, and she stayed with Nick when the hospital released her. "Nick, you don't need to do this for me." Jessica said when Nick gave her breakfast. "Yes I do. You're my third sister, and I'm not going to let you do anything for you're self till you're better." He answered. "You are such a snot sometimes." She said with a smile. "Did you by any chance call Brian?" "Why do you ask?" "I was just wondering because no one mentioned him at all. And it isn't like you to not tell him things." "All right, I did call him. He deserves to know, plus I think that he still loves you." "Why do you say that? It didn't seem that way to me after he told me that he can't trust me." "That's because you haven't know him as long as I have. He goes on these jealous rampages sometimes. Plus, Matt was a threat to him. He didn't want to lose you to some other guy." "So he wanted to be the one to hurt me instead of the other way around." "Pretty much." ~Chapter 7~ *In Kentucky* When Brian got to his room, he saw there was a message waiting for him. After he heard it, he called his parents and asked what he should do. Stay with them for 2 more days, or see how Jessica is doing. His mom told him to go back to Florida, since she really likes Jessica and wants the two of them to get back together. So Brian listened to his mom and left. When he got back to Florida, he called Jessica's place, but she wasn't there. He called Nick just to see if he knew where she was. "Hey man, what's up?" Nick said. "Not much, how about you?" Brian answered. "Same, where are you by the way?" "Home, I got your message and came back. How is she?" "Fine, but right now she's sleeping. That pain medication they gave her is powerful." "Wait, how do you know that she's sleeping?" "Jess is staying her until either her arm or leg heals. I wouldn't let her be by herself in her condition." "So, her arm and leg is broken, is anything else?" "A couple ribs, but they're not bad. She's awake now, so I should go. I'll call you later, bye." "Bye." ~Thank God she's ok.~ Brian though to himself. ~2 Weeks Later~ "Nick I can walk up the steps myself." Jessica said after Nick picked her up. Her arm is healed now, but her leg is still in bad shape. Her leg got broken in 3 places, so it will take a little longer to heal. Since she can use crutches and has a walking cast now, Jessica wanted to go home. "I know that, but I don't want you to hurt yourself." Nick said. "Nick," Jessica said after he put her down, "I'm going to be ok. I'm a big girl, if I need anything, I'll call. I promise." "Swear to God?" "I swear. Now go get some sleep, because I know that you didn't get any for the last 2 weeks. Thanks for everything." "It's no problem. See you later, bye." Nick gave her a hug. "Oh, and no sending any of the other guys to check on me either." She shouted before he got into his car. "How did you know I was going to do that?" "I'm psychic." When she went inside, she found a wrapped box sitting on her kitchen table. ~That little worm.~ She thought to herself. She opened it and found a red rose, and card and a little black dress. "What the?" Jessica said out loud. She read the card and discovered that the gift was from Brian. He apologized for acting the way he did and asked for her forgiveness. At the end of the card he told her to meet him at their spot in the park and wearing the dress. Jessica got dressed, and left for the park. She drove, since she's had enough of walking for a while. Brian was waiting for her. "You look beautiful." He said smiling. "Thank you. You picked out a gorgeous dress." Jessica answered. "You said you always wanted a little black dress, but could never find one that you like. And I saw it at a store, and I though of you." They just stood there in silence for a while. "I'm sorry for everything Jess. Nick told me everything you told him. I never meant to do this to you. It's all my fault." "Don't say that. It's no one's fault that this happened. And in a way, this accident has helped me look at my life more. I could have died that day, but someone wanted to keep me here. I got a second chance at life since I have something to do here still." "Since you're all about second chances now, will you give something else a second chance?" He asked. "Like what?" "Us, these last few weeks have been hard. I've realized how much I love you. I don't know why I didn't trust you. I'm so sorry." Brian looked into Jessica's eyes before she answered him. She saw the hurt and the sadness in them. "Of course. I've missed you too." They kissed for a while. "Do you want to get out of here?" Brian asked. "Oh yeah." She started to walk, but stopped due to the pain. "Here,” Brian said picking her up. "What is it with guys and carrying me everywhere?" "Who else has carried you?" "Nick, he was my nurse for the last 2 weeks. And I have to ask, does my cast make me look sexy?" "Oh yeah, the thought of plaster wrapped around one of your appendages turns me on." Jessica laughed, and kissed him on the cheek. "What was that for?" He asked. "Loving me."
