Time: 12:46 p.m.
Listening to: Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof - I have the radio on (Radio Sonicnet)
Currently obsessing over: no one, really - I'm getting that certain nameless someone out of my system
Currently reading: Anil's Ghost by Michael Ondaatje
Currently avoiding: cleaning the house before my mom gets home from her two week vacation
Out the window: it's beautiful - sunny and warm
Quote of the day: (it's a long one - bear with me - it's so beautiful that I have to put the whole thing) " 'We are often criminals in the eyes of the earth, not only for having committed crimes, but because we know that crimes have been committed.' Words about a man buried forever in a prison. El Hombre de la Mascara de Hierro. The Man in the Iron Mask. Anil needed to comfort herself with old friends, sentences from books, voices she could trust. 'This is the dead room,' said Enjolras. Who was Enjolras? Someone in Les Miserables. A book so much a favourite ... she wished it to accompany her into the afterlife." - from Anil's Ghost
Picture of the day:

Brent Carver as Tevye in Stratford's production of Fiddler on the Roof

My favourite discovery of the month??? Radio Sonicnet. As Sally Brown would say, "I LIKE it!" :-) Great music, an amazing selection including original cast recordings from 50 years ago and ones released last week ... I don't listen to anything else now when I'm on the computer!!!

More excitement - my next big theatre trip is planned - the weekend of June 23 - 25 Stacy and I are seeing three shows in two days (and my good pal Elizabeth is joining us for two of them - yay!). The catch? We're seeing Ragtime in Ottawa Friday night and the matinee of Hamlet and evening performance of Fiddler on the Roof in Stratford on Saturday. If you don't know Ontario geography, Ottawa and Stratford are about 7 hours apart. :-) It should make for an interesting weekend, anyway! :-) I'm very excited about all three shows for very different reasons, but I'm most looking forward to Fiddler for one very specific reason. Brent Carver (most recently Leo Frank in Parade on Broadway, for which he was robbed of a Tony!) is playing Tevye. He is going to be so amazing. I can't wait.

So the Tonys are this weekend. After last year's huge disappointment (to this day I still refuse to discuss or see anything having to do with Fosse), I'm not as excited about them, but I am looking forward to seeing the broadcast. I'm more excited about the nominated shows all performing on Rosie this week and next (starting tomorrow). Should be mucho cool. I of course have my favourites but since I haven't seen any of the shows nominated this year (unlike last year) my opinions are pretty biased. :-) But if anyone cares, I will be cheering for Kiss Me, Kate, Stokes, Marin Mazzie, Boyd Gaines ... I guess those are the ones I really care about. But there aren't any this year that I will be furious if they win, so we're already doing better than last year (especially since a high majority of those ones won last year! :-).

Other than that my life has been pretty boring - I'm working a lot, which is good, since I need the money, but it doesn't leave much space for "fun" time. I'm sure I'll squeeze some in here or there, though. :-) Up next is graduation, which should be fun. Right now, I have to go get ready for work, again. I'll try to update again soon, but if not, there will definitely be something up after our theatre road trip. Yay!

And Stacy, I might not have liked you at first, but now I love you. :-)
