Leader of the Pack

In 1994 the directors decided to go in a slightly different direction with the annual musical. Following the enormous success and popularity of Joseph the year before, they decided to try a show that focused more on the dancing and singing, allowing them to make use of the great talents of choreographer (and local dance teacher) Debbie Donaldson. The show they eventually chose was “Leader of the Pack”.

“Leader of the Pack” is a slightly fictionalized account of the life of songwriter Ellie Greenwich, featuring many of her most popular songs, including “Be My Baby,” “Going to the Chapel,” “Maybe I Know,” “The Look of Love,” and, of course, “Leader of the Pack.” The G.S.S. production was packed with familiar and well-loved songs and fantastic dance sequences and was a hit with students and audiences alike, who for the most part really enjoyed the departure from the traditional shows G.S.S. had presented before.
