India - Jodhpur

Think of Jodhpur and you think of young girls frolicking around the paddock on horseback wearing those tight trousers, errr, but enough of that and back to the Travel Diary...

Ariel view of JodhpurWe didn't have a whole lot of time for sightseeing in Jodhpur, so it was straight up to the Meherangarth Fort for us. To be honest, I'd probably seen more than my share of forts by now, so I didn't pay too much interest to the inside of this one. However, the view from the ramparts of the fort were sensational. In the foreground was the impressive Jaswant Thanda temple, but further below us was the city of Jodhpur with its blue roofs. Blue signifies the Brahmin, or priest caste and, regardless of whether the occupant is indeed from the Brahmin caste, roofs are painted blue as a status symbol.

Next stop Jaipur...
