![]() ![]() The Celtic harp which is the instrument Katie plays is called a clarsach - the Gaelic word for 'small harp'. The small harp is Scotland's oldest instrument and has been on the music scene ever since the 8th Century. Although the small harp's popularity diminished after the Middle Ages it enjoyed a revival in the 19th and 20th Centuries. However its greatest period of success has been in the last 20-30 years and Katie wishes to continue a broadening awareness of the clarsach by creating a modern sound with her voice and this ancient instrument. |
