AZIO MP306I've been itching for a higher-capacity, portable USB drive to transportfiles between home and the office. fasttrack accelerator System tweaks. You can imagine how I drooled then when I realized that the 128MB AZIO MP306 is a USB drive, MP3 player, and voice recorder all in one. There are a few drawbacks, however, so I'll cover them first. That's OK. No complaints about the power-saving function. However, when I turned the player back on, it started playing the beginning of track 1. fasttrack accelerator Speed up memory. It would be nice if the COMBO Player remembered where I left off. My other nitpicky complaint is that no MP3 encoder is bundled with the player, so you will need to download your own MP3 software. AZIO does include a program called Digital Audio Manager. Although you can't rip MP3s with this program, it does make dragging and dropping MP3 and WMA files to the COMBO Player simple. You can also use Digital Audio Manager to drag files that aren't music files to the device. The software will automatically place them in the player's EDISK folder, where all the USB drive files are stored. According to AZIO, the required single AAA battery lasts for as long as 12 hours of playback or five hours of voice recording. In my testing, the battery lasted close to 10 hours, an impressive feat considering that the MP306 has a power-guzzling LCD screen that displays menus and track information. Overall, the AZIO player is an excellent device.
