Friends of Mineral Town: Animals
Chicken: Chickens can be bought from the at the poultry farm for 1,500G and are kept in the chicken coop, found under the tree that bears honey. You can either feed them by letting them out on nice days to eat the worms out of the grass. However, when it's Winter or the weather is bad, (or you're too lazy to put them outside) you can feed them with chicken feed (Bought from Lillia for 10G per share). If a chicken is full grown, they will produce eggs daily, which sell for approximately 50G each. To birth a baby chick, place an egg in the incubator and wait a few days. A chick will soon be born, and after it grows up, it will begin to produce eggs. Keep in mind that adult chickens need to be fed while baby chickens don't. The maximum amount of chickens you can hold is 4, but after the chicken coop is extended, you can own 8.
Cow: Cows are bought from Barley's ranch for 6000G, and are kept in the barn to the right of your house. It's recommended that you have bought the brush from Saibara and have grown a grass field before buying one. To feed cows, place a piece of fodder in one of the feed boxes - or, alternatively, you can let them out (if it's a nice day) to feed on grass. You should brush and talk to them daily. When your cow is old enough, the cow will begin to produce milk daily, which you can sell. In order to milk them, you'll have to buy the milker from Saibara. If you want to impregnate a cow, you can buy cow miracle potion from Barley and use it on the cow. During their pregnancy, cows will not produce milk. After a little less than a season, a baby cow will be born. The maximum amount of cows you can own is 8, and after the barn is extended, 16. However, since cows share the barn with sheep, you may want to divide these numbers amongst the cows and sheep.
Sheep: Sheep can be bought from Barley's ranch for 4000G and are kept in the barn along with the cows. Taking care of them is very similar to taking care of cows. To feed them, put some fodder into one of the feed boxes, and on nice days, let them out to graze on the grass. It's best if you brush and talk to them on a daily basis. Sheep will produce wool, which can be sold. Wool can be sheered with the sheers bought from Saibara. If you wish to get a sheep pregnant, you can buy the sheep miracle potion from Barley and use it on one of your sheep. Your sheep cannot be sheered during this time. After a little less than a month, a baby sheep will be born. The maximum amount of sheep you can own is 8, and after the barn is extended, 16. Remember, cows and sheep share the barn, so if you own 16 sheep, then there will be no room for cows.
Dog: When you start out on your farm, your dog is the only animal with you. He starts out as a puppy, and eventually grows to his full size around Fall. Not much care for him is required - you needn't feed or brush him - but the least you could do is pick him up every day and give him a hug. When he is full grown, you can enter him in the frisbee-throwing contest on the first of Summer. When Won comes by to offer you toys for your dog, you can play with him with them and thereby increase his chances for winning the contest.
Horse: The horse is acquired from Barley's ranch, for free. Like your dog, he doesn't require feeding. As a colt, you should talk to him every day, and once you get the brush from Saibara's shop, you should brush him just as often. On days with bad weather, you should bring him into the stable, but otherwise, he prefers to roam around your farm. Once he is full grown, he can enter the Spring and Fall horse races.
