Tolkien's poems are musical, descriptive and they add much colour and emotion to LotR and his other stories. They tell stories of the unknown, and of the known. Each is special in their own way, and they contribute to the plots.

The Old Walking Song - The poem from which the title of this website comes from. It is quoted at various stages in the story.

A Bath Song - Pippin's colourful song regarding baths. Sung at Crickhollow (why did they have to leave it out.)

Frodo's Lament for Gandalf - Made up by Frodo to try and fashion a poem suitable for the lost Gandalf.

The Ent and the Ent-wife - A sad elf-tale concerning the Search of the Ents.

A Walking Song - A rather fun view of adventures, the light side of glory. It is rather like Bilbo's original adventure.

Bregalad's Song - A sad recount of the death of the rowan trees at the hands of Saruman's orcs.

Oliphaunt - A poem about the legendary creature, the Oliphaunt.

The Eagle's Song - This is sung by a great Eagle, bring hope and joy to the people of Gondor.
