Bush, Jr. declared "No Dummy" (by his momma)
- & -
Other Qualifications of a - a ... President???
Hmmm

Well, it is easy to see that the qualifications for being president have nothing to do with ability to think clearly, to have natural leadership qualities, or to have any convictions that one has stood behind during one’s political career, limited as it may be.

Let’s take a look at the qualifications now necessary for a bid for the highest office in the Republic of the United States of America.

First, there is the opinion of the mother of the person intent on being put in the office of president. As reported by Reuters, Barbara Bush stated of her son, George, Jr., that he was somewhat of a ‘late bloomer’ but insisted, “George is no dummy.”

Thus, it seems as long as a do-nothing, no-conviction person is “no dummy” in mommy’s eyes, then he has met the first qualification to lead to nation and become the most powerful man in the world. Uhh, yeah, right.

Then, there is the qualification that follows the recent debate between GOP hopefuls. It was reported by Alan Elsner, Political Correspondent (I believe for Reuters), that “Bush Just Passes First Debate Test”.

Thus, as long as one is not ripped to shreds too badly in a debate against other questionable potential candidates for the highest office in the land, then his qualifications for said office remain intact - or, are met.

However, a political analyst, Allan lichtman, had this to say, “I though he was insipid (Means flat, uninteresting, dull, lifeless. He didn’t wind up with egg on his face, but he sounded as if he was just reciting lines others had written. There was no passion, no verve.” Well, now, that does help clinch his likeliness to be the GOP nominee, doesn’t it.. Or, does it?

Anyway, as long as Bush can read his lines at pre-arranged debates and the like, this does show him, indeed, to not be a dummy - or, at least, not an illiterate dummy - just as his momma said. But, what happens when decisions must be made that cannot be made based on predetermined questions and answers? Well, guess that will be answered in time.

It is the next qualification that seems to have Bush as the forerunning GOPer for the highest office in the land. Stated in the same article by Mr. Elsner, plus many other sources during the past many weeks, “Bush enjoys a huge money advantage over most of his rivals...”, which in most minds, GOP ones, anyway, seems to make him the best candidate for the job.

In fact, when Bush is discussed, never is it NOT brought out that he has the most contributed money or the most money to campaign with, as if that makes him a leader.

Historically speaking, the candidate who has the most money to campaign with, be it for class president or major of a small town or the presidency of this nation, is the candidate that wins the office (this excepts chickens who drop out). Thus, in this person’s mind, the only qualification that really counts is who has the most money.

Bush has the most so it really doesn’t matter if he doesn’t have much on the ball - GOP leaders figure they can get him into office. As a matter of fact, the push for Bush by GOP leadership makes sense, since it is obvious they would want someone in the office that would not go against the Republican-controlled Congress as Clinton has done or a person who is strong-willed with unshakable convictions concerning the defense of the Constitution and American liberties.

So, the GOP political machine will back Bush since money is the key, not intelligence nor convictions nor family values. Even without any additional contributions (or any at all), Bush could easily outspend everyone else if his daddy would let him. So Republican congress people and the wealthy putting themselves behind a - well, I have my opinion - is just a matter of ‘good’ political strategy to them.

If elected (let us pray he isn’t or we will suffer from months of “Duh”), it is highly likely many of us out here where it really counts will once again be ashamed to call ourselves “Americans”, just as we were during the Reagan-Bush-Quayle (I guess I should include Clinton but that was orchestrated by Republicans) era of deceit and fodder for comedians.

Actually, many of us all ready are - I mean - look at what we have as potentials. Ugh!

Addendum: I know what many people would say if they read this - something like: "If you don't like it, leave - get out of the country."

Well, that is not how a Republic works. When one is dissatisfied, one works as hard as possible to see that others recognize the deficiencies and then join together to make changes.

Chickenshits run - including those who bought their way or used political influence to get out of "front line" duty. This, of course, includes Bush. His appointment to the National Guard was arranged by his daddy, the then president.

But any person saying the above would be right concerning one part. I don't like it. I don't like the fact that a coke snorting do-nothing spoiled, "no dummy" is in the running for the nomination as a presidential candidate. If he represents the best the Gopers have to offer - this country is in a world of hurt.

But, I do love the principles this country was founded on. I will do whatever I can to assure those principles are restored. You see, if restored, there would be no way in hell another such as Bush Jr. could ever even be considered for the presidency - or even the mayor of - let's say a town the size of Kingsbury, Texas (roughly 300 people). You might remember it as one of the towns the military ran rampant over in practicing the establishment of marshal law.
