I am reminded of this after sitting and wading through several articles about Bush. All attempted to mislead people into believing the man has character and convictions (but failed miserably, I might add) just because of the contributions.
However, on the bright side, it appears his potential for nomination is lessening, that people are waking up to the fact he is not presidential material, a fact no amount of money can change. (Addendum: Damn but did I miss on this. The SOB got the nomination. Makes me wonder now just how stupid the public is.) I think any Republican congressman (or woman, damn political correctness to hell) knows this but they also know money (actually, the super-wealthy behind the scenes) buys elective offices. After all, their long-term careers demand it.
Since this is a fact, it is still likely we in this nation will have to listen to Bush reading his convictions and goals written by his campaign people or his daddy or other special interest controls on him from now on until after he is out of either the primaries or loses the election. Sadly, his forte, other than scratching the ‘right’ backs (in his and the GOPer’s minds but absolutely wrong for this Republic) is partying inappropriately (snorting coke and dallying with women is inappropriate for a governor, is it not?) and avoidance of responsibilities.
What exactly has Bush stated? Has he made any promises in meeting the oath of office, if nothing else? What of protecting the Constitution? What of assuring that law enforcement, including those bullies and terrorists commanded by the government, no longer break into innocent people’s homes or, if they do by mistake, are appropriately punished?
What of assuring the government will be limited as intended by the Constitution? What of assuring those of us who work will no longer have direct tax (income tax) applied illegally as has been done the past 5 decades? What of the volunteer nature of Social Security?
All of these are major ills of our society. Of course, it doesn’t include all but just enough to make a point. Bush doesn’t give a crap about this nation or its people. What he cares about - heck, can’t even say he cares about his party - can only be himself.
He has violated criminal, ethical, and moral laws. What more do people need to know he is not a leader but is merely a follower to his own needs, an individual who lacks in character and firm values? And, “damn the rest of society” has always had to have been his motto in his role as spoiled, rich kid.
And, now to have Elizabeth Dole with him? What? Is that a ploy to win over women’s votes and the backing of Dum-dum Bush by women’s groups? I mean, just who the hell is Elizabeth Dole other than Bob Dole’s wife? Who even knew who she was prior to the last primaries and presidential election? A few people, maybe, but still a very, very, very small percentage (infinitesimal) of the people in this nation. (Addendum: Maybe preying does help since this Dole possibility did not materialize.)
As for women’s groups backing Bush, surely they are more intelligent than to be misled by the Bush-Dole combo. These two are as surely controlled by the oil and tobacco industries as any can be. For pete’s sake, the Bush family is in the oil business plus the GOPers receive huge contributions from the oil industry. Is that not a ‘conflict of interest’, the reason the agri-oil business keeping its subsidies rolling in?
And surely people haven’t forgotten the tie between Dole and the tobacco industry during the Gingrich buy out by B. Dole and his relationship with the industry. And, the industry’s huge contributions to the Red Cross which was headed by his wife at the time.
Know what I will bet? I will bet neither has even read with comprehension the Constitution of the United States. I will bet neither understands the limits of government, nor that the US Government is owned and controlled by the people of this nation.
I will bet neither knows the US Government is separate from the United States of America (the 50 states), and that the two do not understand what the separation of “federal jurisdiction” from “state jurisdiction” means, nor why it exists.
Ask either the true purpose of the Second Amendment. Ten to one, neither knows or cares. Ask the two how gaining controls of firearms will decrease crime. And then have them explain why their answer hasn’t been proved in other countries which have virtually removed firearms from citizens or as in states in this country in which concealed weapons are permitted, why crime decreases.
As the new millennium proceeds, we must assure government is limited and that it does no more to decrease our liberties. We must assure all unconstitutional laws be wiped from the books and the minds of the people.
We must assure this Republic is a Republic, not a nation of states dictated to by a bunch of people with wealth that could buy all the rest of us and all our property.
Can that be accomplished with a person such as Bush - with a side-kick such as Dole? If you think so, it’s time to get real and get your head out of the crap pouring out over this nation from the District of Columbia.
Come to think of it, can it be accomplished by either of the two major parties? I mean, aren’t they the people who have become so corrupted by money and power that they only legislate to increase their own wealth and power?
Aren’t the two major parties filled with the people who have been systematically removing the liberties of the American people? Aren’t they the people who are fighting for themselves to have complete control with the people subservient to government rather than the other way around?
Well, if one recognizes the answer to these questions is the affirmative, then one must also recognize the absolute necessity of removing these people from power and perhaps shipping them off to some uninhabitied island so they can fight each other for power.
Each and every one has committed a form of treason against this nation’s Constitution. They have each done so by not supporting and defending the Constitution. They are, therefore, un-American in their self-serving endeavors.
What will Bush do to change this? Exactly nothing. He and his daddy and his supporters in government like it as it is. True conservatism of the Republican Party.
Besides, those powerful people who control him know they can continue to control him. A man without convictions never can withstand opposition and will do what he is told by those he perceives in authority. It is beyond limitations placed on themselves by their own lack of personal strength. The Bushes in the world are simply devoid of the strength of conviction to stand up for the rights of others against adversity.
Well, guess that explains all the money that has poured into his campaign coffers. There are $70 million ‘reasons’ of proof that Bush is controllable and bought and paid for by those throwing their money at him as an ‘electable’ candidate. God, I hate that concept.
Have you-all noticed that most people who are quoted refer to him as “electable” while not referring to him as being a great man who should make a great president and leader of this nation? Has our election process become that much of a joke, that the best we can produce is “electable” rather than a man of principle? Actually, it sure doesn’t say much for the GOPers nor the election process, does it?
Maybe the Bush burning that is beginning is going to result in something positive for this nation (besides just Bush going back to Texas and screwing the people of his state only while snorting coke and having a gay, old time), in that maybe the negatives against him will spread to the people supporting him. I surely hope so since their support of this man clearly indicates their lack of concern for the people and this Republic as guaranteed by the Constitution.
Maybe the people of this nation are going to wake up and get involved to the extent of expanding the burning of Bush so that the “weeds in Congress” will be also be “burned out” and replaced with Americans who will defend the Constitution at all costs. Perhaps the match has been lit.
At least, we can hope. Or, perhaps pray.
