Now, I know over $15,000 in costs doesn’t seem like a lot of money. But, there are principles at issue in regards to the one-sided tactical military education of politician’s aides.
What I find irritating is that taxpayer dollars are being used to further Gingrich’s own political aims. You see, it is not the Pentagon that pays for anything - it is hard-earned money from taxpayers that pays the bill. And, why should taxpayers pay for Gingrich getting his people trained in strategy and tactical maneuvering?
The situation also shows it isn’t necessarily the aim of Gingrich to assure he does what is best for the people. If it were, it wouldn’t take strategy and tactical moves to win a point. Strategy and the like are used by Gingrich (and others like him) to get around what is right and do it in a way that it fools a certain number of people into believing a ‘Gingrich-type’ has concern for his constituency, which happens to be all of us if the politician is in Congress.
The training is to help him assure that his top aides and lawmakers keep abreast of knowledge they can use to help him stay in Congress. After all, that is where the money is. How the man keeps fooling the people that keep electing him to office is beyond me so maybe such tactical training helps.
Whether it does or not, it is not right that the people of this nation pay his bills. Of course, if you are a Gingrich supporter, you might state it is for the good of the nation that his people understand military, tactical moves.
But, if this were true, would it not be logical he would have sent every House politicians’ aides for the same training, including those of Democrats?
No, Gingrich’s interest is not in the betterment of this country but in his own self-serving interests which happen to coincide with his party’s interests, a party that is proving time and time again that it does not have the people of this nation in mind.
You can let this go as a paltry amount of money and ignore the overall implications. That is your right as a citizen with freedom of thought and choice. Or, you can demand that the bill be paid out of his pocket.
Of course, you could go a bit further and demand this be treated as unethical, illegal usage (theft) of taxpayer dollars. It is as only his aides were sent and had absolutely nothing to do with improving our governing but, instead, served only Gingrich’s aims of controlling power.
And, that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is Gingrich's game. Perhaps, it should be called and
Gingrich disqualified as a participant.
