Well, it doesn’t work. Even though analysis in the past has shown negative ads to be effective, the results mean little when people feel they are voting for the lesser of the evils. And that is exactly what negative ads lead to.
Is it wonder that people in the nation don’t trust, nor respect politicians? Most assume politicians are a bunch of crooks and deviants, anyway. Most assume politicians would sell their mothers for a few votes. For certain, they will sell themselves to the highest bidders.
One would think Republicans learned something from their five year vendetta against President Clinton. Their negative campaign to ruin him failed miserably.
The party was so wrapped up in destroying Clinton, they let everything else slide. To listen to anit-Clintonites during this time, the fault for all the ills of the nation was Clinton’s. But, being the basic fools they are, it turned the people of this nation, and some in their own party, against them. Seems it might take a sledge hammer to pound some sense into their thick skulls.
Here are a couple of basic rules. Every politician in the capitol behaves just as the others do. If one has illegal contributions, so do the others. If one received, as an example, contributions from foreign sources, so did the others.
Few have morals any better than an alley cat and could care less about family values except during times of campaigning for office.
Most, if not all, have misused funds and misused important bills by hiding their own agendas within the bills. But, to get the bills passed, others in Congress had to accept the add-ins (if they knew about them) in order to get the primary focus of the bill passed. This is a common practice by Congress and State legislatures that sucks, to be quite blunt.
Few read the bills in their entirety, if at all, but vote based only on the benefit to their respective party or special interest groups and damn the nation. That is the attitude of those in government.
So, as far as negative ads are concerned, one could essentially interpret any ad to mean: “I do this, too, but I just haven’t been caught yet. Therefore, you should vote for me since it seems I am not the scoundrel asshole my opponent is.”
One might sort of understand (but not accept) a person such as the scrub brush from Texas having to rely on negatives against opponents. After all, he hasn’t any positive accomplishments to brag about or to build himself up from. He is not really a leader, not even a pseudo (fake) one. His office in
Texas had to have been bought for him and, if investigated thoroughly, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to find out it was through rigged elections.
He has been a doper most of his life (hundreds of witnesses can’t be wrong), a philanderer with little respect for women, and generally behaved as far too many spoiled, rich brats behave - above the law because of who their parents
are and their ‘connections’ which get their children out of situations others of lesser financial means go to prison for. Daddy and Momma Bush certainly did that for their kid.
So, what else does Dumbya have to base a campaign on other than trying to slam down his opponent (McCain at this stage of the game) with negatives. We have experienced that the more negatives are used, the more upset and fed up the people of this nation get. And this has become Dumbya’s plan. Just how feeble-minded is he?
What of national pride? Who can feel a sense of pride in a nation that allows such behaviors from politicians to go on? Is it any wonder other nations look down on this nation (but take our money, anyway, since they know politicians are so used to buying rather than earning that they will cough up
the money)?
I, for one, want to once again feel pride in this country. I am afraid I cannot do so with those people in government who are constantly in the news. I am tired of their negativism when they do the same or worse. Example, Burton slamming the devil out of Clinton while having fathered a bastard child (one
that we know of) and while having affair after affair.
Or that guy, Gingrich. A felon if there ever was one and not a nice man. He also had (and is having right now) multiple affairs. Now, I don’t really care about that or if they all had
fathered a dozen bastard children. But, do I care about Clinton, Gingrich, Burton, and the rest of government, including AAC/DC men and women, or just out and out full blown queers getting head jobs?
Not really. What I care about is that violation of oaths to protect the Constitution and liberties of the people are far more important than lying in court about a head job from an intern.
Let’s put sexual deviancy in Washington in perspective. Any married person would have done exactly the same as Clinton, including the 535 in Congress who have had multiple affairs and
sexual interludes in the alcoves of capitol buildings.
And then there is this guy Dumbya who has always held himself above the law. He must have since he has violated so many criminal and moral laws. His daddy helped him by always arranging his boy’s release or whatever and got the paper
work eaten. Good thing they couldn’t shred people. And, that they forgot to buy witnesses off or terrify them adequately into keeping their mouths shut.
Therefore, what alternative does such a loser have other than using every bit of dirt he can about McCain? What we are going to hear and read is just the same old bunch of crap we heard during the last primaries. Only the names will change. And, what good does that do this country and our standing in
the world?
Well, in my opinion - not a blankety-blank thing except lowering the opinion the rest of the world has of America. Remember, People, the clods in Washington, with Bush currently at the forefront, represent us to the world. And I greatly resent the fact the world will relate “dumber-than-almost-anyone-I-know”
and “less-accomplished-as-a-human-being” to the good, American people of this nation, their friends, associates, and make a generalized statement about
the people of this nation as being ‘like’ him. Ugh, I shudder from the intense dislike of this.
This is a problem to millions of Americans. Luckily, every problem has a solution and the problem of negative advertising by losers isn’t any different. In arriving at the solution, it should be obvious that those who rely on it do so because of their lack of positives about themselves.
They lie, fabricate, distort by pulling quotes out of context (as does their good buddy media backers), and any other dirty tricks they can think of. And, I don’t give a hoot that “other campaigns in the past have been much dirtier with more mud slinging.” What the devil does that have to do with it?
Since it is quite common that the one doing the mud-slinging has done just as bad, or worse - is that the person we want running for office? My gosh, what if he or she gets it and we listen to years more of the same old crap?
In my opinion, we don’t want, nor do we need them. It is as plain as day they won’t be good for the country. Such people don’t keep their promises, nor do anything positive to build up our image to the world.
So, here’s the solution. The first time any politician gets negative about an opponent (or opponents), first, completely investigate his past, as completely as Clinton’s has been investigated. Excellent private investigators can do a
far better job that some political appointee and for far less money than party lackeys, such as Starr.
Then, since it is certain a lot of dirt will be found out about them, get rid of them. Disqualify them as candidates.
Or, simply skip the investigation and disqualify them immediately as being flat-ass losers who cannot stand on their own merits.
Actually, the latter is the best. Skip the unnecessary step of investigating them as it only prolongs the agony of listening to the slop they spew out.
How about it, Folks? How about ridding ourselves of the lesser of the evils so the major parties will strive to straighten up their acts or suffer the same consequences - ousted because of unethical, often civil or criminal illegalities, but always, less than desirable behaviors (unless you like liars,
cheats, and thieves and think dispicable people should be a part of government).
Let us put ourselves on the road to an honest government controlled by the people rather than keeping a dishonest government controlled by greed. Let us strive to regain the lost pride in our country.
Why do I state “lost pride”? Well, people who have pride in anything are never apathetic or complacent about it and will protect it regardless of the cost and effort.
