In the case of increased gun control by our centralized government, the threat of dictatorship does not come from a foreign power; it comes from our own government. It is following the pattern of all tyrannical governments, that is, of course, first ridding the populace of firearms directly under their control.
The Fourth Amendment has all ready been wiped off the slate. As for privacy from illegal prying, you can forget it. The government has authorized unwarranted search and seizures without any court order or even probable cause. Thus, in the name of national security, your sacntuary, your own home, can be invaded anytime by government spooks, including your local law enforcement people, many of which haven't any idea at all of the laws they violate.
As a matter of fact, your privacy has already been invaded. It may have been done through electronic surveillance on the Internet, through phones, or through your banking and credit card activities or other means, such as the databasses that have been collected on anyone foolish enough to give any form of information to any organization, be it of the government or a business or something one would think of as innocent, a survey (including the census).
Don’t believe many of your liberties have all ready been taken or negatively affected? In the next highway spot check conducted by government agencies such as the highway patrol or local police force, refuse to identify yourself or to produce any other private documents. You are being subjected to search and seizure without probable cause and without a court issued search warrant no matter how they try to define it. So, refuse to go along with them and see what happens. Make sure you have on clothes you don't mind being ruined and that you have bail arranged in advance.
Coupled with this, and all in the name of kids, is gun control. Of course, those in government know there is the very great possibility of armed citizens protecting themselves against invasions by government sneaks. So, by effectively destroying the Second Amendment, the government would be free to enter without concern.
More control for the government - less for the citizenry.
The Second Amendment is in the Constitution for one reason. And it is not protection against the criminal element (although it is the most effective crime control of all) as so many believe. The Second Amendment is in the Constitution so that the populace can protect its free state. And from what? The tyranny of a centralized government in which roughly two one-millionths (0.0000025) of the American population dictates to the rest of us how it will be.
You see, Ladies and Gentlemen, the issue isn’t children using firearms to kill with. That is a smoke screen that has fit right into the plans of the government. The real issue is whether or not we allow the government to remove the Second Amendment and our right to protect ourselves and our liberties from a government determined to control every facet of our lives.
You can mistakenly support their actions. Living in this nation gives you the right. But, you had better think about it. After all, the spot check I mentioned earlier is not any different than “Heil, Comrade, show me your papers.”
Why help them enter your home stating “We know you are an anti-government activist because your neighbor (relative, friend, or mere acquaintance) turned you in.” And, then
be arrested and thrown in jail without any legal recourse or a Constitution to protect your rights of liberty and a fair trial.
That, Ladies and Gentlemen, your liberty, will be the price of apathy, disinterest, and the “so what, I don’t have anything to hide” syndrome.
