The terrorist acts were most artfully and skillfully executed. Though that may be so, the majority inside and outside the US condemned them in the strongest terms. In addition, the majority also questioned why such acts were inflicted upon a superpower. terrorism psychology Terrorism psychology. The American people, with their usual naivete and lack of information from their media, questioned why the United States was so hated. Fortunately, the answer came from the Americans themselves and in brief is that the US has abandoned the values and principles of its founders. Among those principles are self-determination, opposition to colonialism, interference from abroad or invasion. President Bush himself, on the day he took office, announced that America was the home of democracy. If this is true, all the bad feelings - perhaps even hatred of America - is due to its uncritical support of Israel, its abandoning all principles of right plus the very principles upon which the country was founded and because of which it has prospered. The forsaking of its principles are immeasurably worsened in the eyes of the world by its actions as a member of the Security Council, its control of UN decision-making and its efforts to dominate the world through economic power and military might. The terrorist attacks on the US, regardless of what entity was behind them, represent a kind of massive opposition to the US and further, that any position seen as unjust will be met with terrorism. It was recently reported that a number of Americans who are well-acquainted with Middle East, its issues and problems have sent a letter to President Bush recommending an immediate resolution of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the establishment of a Palestinian State. The letter contained a warning that if the US delays this move or fails in it, the alliance against terrorism will not survive and that terrorism will thus be strengthened.
